And yep, I live in Sydney.

This place is rddled with aussies... Mostly Melburnians for some reason, but we won't hate on you for being a northerner.... I lived in randwick and coogee bay for almost 7 years, so I can't. But maybe Bunsen will.  ;D

  • 4 weeks later...

Hello, I'm also a newb with an LCD question  ;D

This is a $5.00 backlit 2x40 display, but the driver is a KS0066. I see nothing on that in the docuwiki or the SEQ page, so I'll guess that my enticing, very inexpensive find is not kosher? I know that the above-listed controller is a given, but of course I know nothing about others...

There's a link to a 400K datasheet on it. 14 pin connections plus to power, page nine for input details.

Regards to the forum and to the MIDIbox makers!

Heya Peake :) You must be a n00b, or you'd know that I'd rag on you for not searching the forum before you asked that question. I found too many links to post, give it a try:

Search

I'll forgive you for not finding it on the wiki though, cause the search engine must be busted.... It found no hits, but you can clearly see it on another useful page: If you go to the wiki, and type the word HD44780 into the search, a little menu will pop up, showing the matching page names. Read that.

FYI: HD44780 is the chipset which is usually recommended, but as you'll see there are many 100% compatible chipsets.

In addition to the busted search engine, there are no less than 5 LCD pages. I will clean up that mess tonight.

Don't forget to watch out for negative contrast voltage.

Tadaaa, look at that:

@All:

6 pages become 2:

Tidy.

Please avoid the use of tables because they kill searches. Dammit, another bug. Why do I always find the bugs?

I see you bought from 'hongkongsuperseller' on Ebay, just for the record, I've bought lots from this guy, great seller and great prices. Probably quicker delivery to Oz than USA too.

Yea, they have been very good from me..

It astounds me that I can buy something from then, have it delivered to my door, and It's still 1/10th the price of my local crummy elecctronics part store..

They don't sell pointerless knobs for the encoders tho.. Now on the hint for them as the guts of my sequencer is pretty much complete.

Regards

Mike
