(the NGW)Something else worth considering is an asus eeebox... They're numerous, so they're cheap, and there's lots of support. About the size of a hardback at 223x178x26mm...no PCI slots but plenty of USB, and WLAN built in, etc... at 350USD it's more than the parts for a real embedded system, but you might save a lot of hassle...
