RoyalScam
Hi All!I was looking through past posts here and saw TK's proposed 303 Control Extension,http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,5680.0.htmlLike all things MIDIBox, it fascinated me. However, I had no idea what a TB-303 really was ( I'm an old fart ). So after much Google and this video I have a better understanding.http://www.archive.org/details/NateHarrisonBasslineBaseline/It'll be neat if it does get implemented( I'm not pushing TK, just liked the idea ).Also, Thanks to Dave_Wheeler in this post;http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,5458.msg33578.html#msg33578I've downloaded rebirth and I'll probably throw together a MB64 to play with it.See I read everything, it just takes me a few years to catch up!Scam

Flemming
@ROYALSCAMYeah, i love ReBirth too! being an over 10 years old piece of software i really like it, and it was pioneering in the art of computer realtime synthesis.TK's 303 control extension is in fact aimed at the MB-SID when it's working in 'Bassline'-mode http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_sid_manual_b.html The 'Bassline' of the MB-SID mimics the nature of the original bassline concept using the lovely SID-chip :) Also, the MB-SID is fully MIDI capable - in contrast to the original TB-303 which was invented before MIDI was around, and therefore sports the much earlier concept of CV (control voltage)In the video you see and hear tons of 'modern day' composers using their 303 along 'modern' MIDI equipment, and this is possible due to a number of modifications that were 'invented' along the way which in turn made the TB-303 MIDI compatible using 'Roland DIN sync' to clock the box from an external MIDI sequencer.A quick search for VST plugins at sites like http://www.kvraudio.com/ will reveal thousands of 303 replicas that you can use in your favorite computer sequencer with all the glory and ease of modern music composing - Still i myself has the heaviest love towards ReBirth, and for instant bassline-fun nothing beats that little baby :) combined with a MIDIcontroller such as MB64 or similar you're in for many days of tweaking-and-turning fun!! In the same way you could also use the MB64 to control further parameters of your MB-SID kinda like what the 'TK 303-extension' would do in the first place.PS. you probably already figured this out, but anyways; in the video they say that the two available waveforms of the TB-303 is Saw and Sine... but it is in fact Saw and Square
