  1. I've always lusted after the PanaVise with the PCB holder attachment, but somehow I always spent my hobby money on parts rather than purchasing one. This however is something I'm going to try. It's just too simple not to. http://hackaday.com/2011/10/04/hackaday-links-october-4-2011/ Regards, Scam
  2. Did you make this PC Board yourself, toner transfer or some other method? The reason I ask is that if you printed out the PCB layout in Eagle, without doing a rat's nest operation, the ground plane would not be on the circuit board. Therefore no ground for green LED. Scam
  3. Just saw a video of this posted at Lemon64.com and immediately thought of everyone here. You can check out his website here; http://www.linusakesson.net/chipophone/index.php Regards, Scam
  4. Got my two boards today in Florida. Thanks nILS, beautiful work! Scam
  5. It has always been my custom to say Merry Christmas to All! As I've learned, there are many differing beliefs, customs, theories, et al , but I don't intend to unintentionally preach nor do I wish to start a flame war. My only wish is to wish You, 'Boxers, my good friends all, peace and prosperity now and in the upcoming new year. I've found this community to be welcoming, helpful, charitable, and intelligently humorous. The forums here are the first thing I check, every time I start up my PC. Email and my other work related duties, come in second, as I wish to always start my sessions with a smile. MIDIBox and the people here, do that for me. Thanks For existing, and making me happy these many years, Royal Scam
  6. The new forum is shaping up nicely! Thank You for all the hard work! Good Luck with it!

  7. has yet to determine the nature of his status.

  8. I've been pretty much broke for the past year and a half. However, I found something on E-bay I really wanted, but like usual, I was outbid at the last minute. So my small contribution will be the money I would've spent frivolously otherwise. I hope it helps. RoyalScam P.S. Why is it when you drop your wireless mouse it always falls under the desk?
  9. Don't know if anyone posted this (did a forum search and came up empty) But I had to let everyone see this; Next thing in Boxing? ;) Regards, Scam
  10. There's two fuses in that supply; 1.5 A external and 4 A internal check here; http://personalpages.tds.net/~rcarlsen/tdsweb/C128/usa-ps.gif Regards, Scam
  11. Howdy! The diode and resistor that Flemming mentioned in the above post, are part of the CAN bus interface and connected via J15 and J2 ; http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_sid/mbsid_v2_communication.pdf As I have not yet constructed MIDIbox SID V2 (still running V1 here, with one SID6581 ), I can only speculate. But I did notice Techno PWM and some other patches didn't sound right. As you put it "noisy" My 6581's came as pulls from various working and non functioning C-64's. I replaced a 2484 dated 6581 with a 6581R3 datecode 0786 (S?). Long story short, it sounds much better. I also have an R4 another R3 and a few with no rev. no. after the 6581. If you have another SID, I'd give it a try. But do the CAN bus additions and let us know how it goes. Dean aka Scam
  12. Hi! I'm currently running my MIDIBox SID as ver1, only because I haven't gotten around to the conversion. V1 is no longer supported as a platform, but the folks here are always willing to help. The big issue in the conversion from V1 to V2 is the PIC controller used. V1 uses the 18F452 while the V2 uses the 18F4685. The complete conversion process can be found here; http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_sid_manual_up.html But, being that you already have the parts, I'd first build the V1 as you already have what you need to get started, you can always convert later, using the Core and SID module you already have. They'll work fine, but as always, check the schematics for changes. I will say that the specs and functions of V2 are REALLY impressive, check the DEMOs. I've gotta get my lazy butt in gear and get started on it. Read through the excellent V2 docs to see what I mean. Have fun! Scam
  13. Hi All! I was looking through past posts here and saw TK's proposed 303 Control Extension, http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,5680.0.html Like all things MIDIBox, it fascinated me. However, I had no idea what a TB-303 really was ( I'm an old fart ). So after much Google and this video I have a better understanding. http://www.archive.org/details/NateHarrisonBasslineBaseline/ It'll be neat if it does get implemented( I'm not pushing TK, just liked the idea ). Also, Thanks to Dave_Wheeler in this post; http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,5458.msg33578.html#msg33578 I've downloaded rebirth and I'll probably throw together a MB64 to play with it. See I read everything, it just takes me a few years to catch up! Scam
  14. I don't do any type of DJ stuff, I don't really understand MIDI to tell the truth, but I really like the MidiBox community. When I saw this, I thought you guys would love to snatch up these controllers for use in your own MB projects. <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object> Note: he says it'll be available for ps3 360 and Wii so I'm thinking wireless or USB. regards Scam
  15. Well it's not a tractor and a Jazz band, but it is an 8080 and a SID <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>Hey I guess I can embed...go figure! Scam
  16. OK, You're gonna love this, I had some time today so, at S1's request, I uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe reader ver. 9.1.0 and great! it worked! A few minutes into my session Adobe updater asked to update to 9.1.1 I allowed it. Now the thing was hosed again. So I uninstalled /reinstalled 9.1.0 and it was still hosed. Why I decided to keep clicking on the link( http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/lib/exe/fetch.php?media=seppoman:ssm2044_schematic.pdf ) I won't know, but it worked after about three clicks, and now it seems to work in about 1 in 3 tries. I since updated to 9.1.1 and so far it's still behaving the same way. My stuff; Windows XP SP3 Firefox 3.0.10 plugins Adobe Acrobat IE Tab plugin Microsoft DRM Windows Presentation Foundation JAva Shockwave Quicktime 7.6 As for right-click save that works, and disabling the browser plugin also works, go figure, and as I said earlier, right-click open in IE tab works. Just odd behavior. Thanks! RoyalScam
  17. You could try this to get a bipolar power supply from a 9volt battery I hope I can do this in text; ________________ + | | | | 10k 10uF | | | + | | 9V ------------ GND - | | | 10k 10uF | | | ----------------- - Just be sure to use at least 5% resistors. This circuit may work, but the battery won't really last that long. Also the MBFM uses a 12v bipolar supply and as such 9volts(or a bit less in this case) will decrease the headroom and prob raise the noise floor. Regards, Dean RoyalScam
  18. Howdy! I was reading about the Dual SSM 2044 VCF boards in the WIKI and noticed that when I clicked on the PDF of the schematic the tab in Firefox (3.0.10) reads fetch.php (application/pdf Object) and essentially nothing happens. My workaround was to open the link in IE tab (it's a plugin) and it displays fine. I'm just curious if I might have something configured wrong in Firefox. Thanks, Dean RoyalScam BTW same behavior on the MB6582 Wiki
  19. Also from Mouser; P/N: 73-XT49U1000-20 Desc. 10.0 MHZ 20pf Vishay/Dale HC-49/U Microprocessor Crystals This is what I used in my MB-SID V1 using 18F452
  20. LOL! Yeah there's always that possibility! Thanks, Scam
  21. Howdy stupid mono-lingual 'merican here. I was hoping some of you hip linguist types might help me ID the first song on this youtube video clip. Thanks, Royal Scam
  22. Hi All! I just stumbled onto this and wondered if anyone had seen it; <embed id="VideoPlayback" src="http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docid=5748920637826072182&hl=en&fs=true" style="width:400px; Like the man says, have a couple of beers and just enjoy it. Scam sorry I screwed up the embed...I never know what I'm doing, please forgive.
  23. Well, poop. I should've known it's been seen before. Nice dream though. Besides, Forrest Mims was cited in the article and it reminded me of all the great things I learned because of him, back when I was a geeky kid with a Library card. Scam
