insidius
Hi all, I am still having problems uploading the firmware to my MB6582. I have read the instructions for newbies, but I still don't understand it! I have been building this for about a year and with the end in sight I am starting to panic!!!! I have completed the baseboard and have all the PICs and 8x Sid chips in place, I have connected the MIDI In/Out to the PC and run the MIOS Studio 2.0. The MIOS Studio screen recognises the MIDI In/Out.....Now what do I do????????? Can someone please explain to me in simple terms what I need to do. Thankyou for all your help. JRock
Hi. I can't get it to work on mine but I can tell you the right way to do it. Go to Download the latest MBSID firmware. Open and save the zip file somewhere you can find it easily. If you got the PICs from Smash they should have Mios installed on them. If not you can install it. Find the latest version and do the same thing for Mios as you will for the MBSID V2 firmware. Connect your MB6582 to midi (and power). Open Mios Studio. Make sure the connections are right. It should prompt something like Mios 1.9 ready to go! Upload now. (paraphrase) Go to browse and find the opened V2 file. In it you will find MBSID 6582.hex (the hex file for your box) Click on it and it will show up in the box in Mios studio. Click on Start! Bang! There you go! If something is already installed on the PIC you may have to get everything ready, then turn your box off then on then hit start in Mios Studio. I think that should work for you. insidius
Thanks JRock, I followed these instructions, but there are a couple of problems! It DOESN'T say MIOS 1.9 ready, it says 'No response from MIOS8 or MIOS32 core!' When I open the Zip file it says'ERROR: Wrong number of bytes in line 524'. I know I'm doing something stupid! HELP!!!!! :frantics: Thanks! Hi. I can't get it to work on mine but I can tell you the right way to do it. Go to Download the latest MBSID firmware. nILS
It DOESN'T say MIOS 1.9 ready, it says 'No response from MIOS8 or MIOS32 core!' - The DISPLAY on your mb6582 should say "MIOS 1.9|Ready", not MIOS Studio on your computer. - Did you select the correct MIDI In an Out ports in MIOS Studio? - You do NOT want to upload the .zip file, but you need to unpack it and upload the ...mb6582.hex file. Smithy
Jumper at J11 missing? ;)
insidius
Something is missing! Screen is blank, MIDI is hooked up correctly, MIOS studio is still saying 'No response from MIOS8 or MIOS32 core!Check MIDI IN/OUT connections!' I am using an E-MU midi 1x1, is this the problem?? I remember reading that some interfaces don't work. This is the third interface I have tried, but I think the others were on the list of bad ones! I am really stuck!!!! I am a muso, so I started this build because I wanted a MB6582, not because I was good at electronics!!! I want to get it finished cause I've spent so much time on it!!! Thanks for your replies. I'm sure there is something simple I'm doing wrong, and someone can steer me in the right direction!
Smithy
Have you installed the jumper at J11?
nILS
If the LCD is blank, you're already having troubles way before the upload. So I guess it's time to start over. We're going to do this step-by-step and I'm sure we'll get it fixed :) The easiest way to do this would be for you to drop by the chat. Real-time chat is a lot faster at times ;) 1) Did you check all the voltages? If not, remove all ICs and do that. Report back.
insidius
Have you installed the jumper at J11? Hi Smithy, I have NOT installed a jumper at J11!!!! I was just reading on the forumsome issues other people have had with that. Can you steer me in the right direction with the proper procedures for uploading and installing J11. Thanks for your help.
