Wilba
I linked to one from Reichelt in this thread post: http://midibox.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=13161&view=findpost&p=121095 but link is broken now. Just wait a bit and my German slave nILS will assist you...
Param1
http://www.conrad.de/ce/de/product/518322/STECKERNETZGERAeT-PA-1000S-LED This is the only available non-switchmode psu that I know. As you probably know, these old-school psus are/will be forbidden in Germany and Europe. I have to add tho, that mine only delivers 11.51V. Wilba
Are you sure the noise is from the PSU and not from the SIDs? 6581 SIDs are pretty noisy anyway (i.e. very high noise floor).
rbv2
hmmmm.. im not shure, i'll do a recording of it this week and upload it! also i have to check which kind of sids iam using.. maybe im to picky and its in the normal range. :ahappy: thanks
Param1
I think the PSU is fine. I use 8580 chips and I they emit the most noise of all my synths. I have no problem with it tho. In fact I own a noise sample collection. :-)
Flying Panther
http://www.conrad.de/ce/de/product/518322/STECKERNETZGERAeT-PA-1000S-LED This is the only available non-switchmode psu that I know. Why would they be (or going to be) forbidden? Because switchmode is more efficient? Or am I missing some point here?
Param1
Didn't know that.. Why would they be (or going to be) forbidden? Because switchmode is more efficient? Or am I missing some point here? Yes, comparable to bulbs.
Flying Panther
So it looks like we're all going to be energy efficient :) Makes sense, but let's hope better switch-mode PSU's will become more widely available for the special applications where the noise can be a problem. Wilba
The only good (no noise) switchmode PSU I found was this one: http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=MP3242&CATID=27&form=CAT&SUBCATID=381 All the other ones (i.e. regulated DC plugpack kind) I've used were noisy. I observed that if I "earthed" the negative output, the noise went away... but that's a bit of a hack and possibly dangerous or something. So I went looking for switchmode PSUs that had an earth connection (i.e. 3-pin power socket). I bought the one linked above and it's rock solid for sammichSID, not even a hint of noise, my transformer based regulated 12V DC plugpack is noisier than this one... but no good for sammichFM. Don't ask me why. Maybe because it is earthed instead of a basic AC/AC transformer.
rbv2
hi, this is the noise i get from the output, the clicks and pops occur by using the encoder! the psu is the voltcraft named by param1. http://kiwi6.com/file/vy7o58mbv8 thanks wilba! i`ll give it a try and order one of these! hope to find a shop in germany.
