Not the same thing. PG-200 is a non-MIDI device used to program the Roland JX-3P, MKS-30, and GR-700. There have been murmurings around this community of a desire to clone it for a while, but not much ever came of it. It's been discontinued for about 25 years, and old used units fetch about $400.

For all intents and purposes the KiwiTechnics Patch Editor is a PG-200 clone (and more). When it's switched to edit a stock JX-3P/MKS-30 it connects to them with a DINSync cable and edits them in the same way the PG-200 does (without MIDI). Of course, it also has secondary editing mode for the JX-3P, in which it can be used to edit a JX-3P that has been modded with the KiwiTechnics upgrade kit as well.

Wow, you are RIGHT!

I hadn't looked at that page before. I just browsed the manual ... I had no idea the "Patch Programmer" was so versatile.
