mbira Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 Hi folks, I have a band where we play hand-build Zimbabwean style marimbas. In these marimbas, I have piezo triggers in each key and those feed a Megadrum audio->midi converter and go via USB into my computer. I control synth sounds there using Reason and Ableton. I'd like to take things to the next level and have an internal sound card built on each marimba and then just go Audio out of the marimba. I know most of the commercial offerings have a General Midi sound library, but I'm wondering if there is a way to build something where I can load my own samples to use? Any advice on something like that? i don't want some big rack sampler when you can use a little daughterboard like HERE to achieve what I want...any thoughts? So far I have the Audio to midi conversion piece, now I just need the midi to sample to D/A piece. :) Quote
