Little idea, what if u connect a potentiometer to the arm? If u move the needle, it's value will change and you could connect the potentiometer to track length or whatever...?

Very nice idea Sinnsyk but I wouldn't want that on my controller it just aint right.

And by the way, traktor does have an option for such controlling of song, via one pot

you can scan trough entire song[it would be nicer with encoder tough, then you could set it to software pickup and just roll away].

Just found out: you can actually scratch with a pot. But it aint the real ting.

There is a DECK SCRATCH ON command wich would be tied to touch sensitive paltter [note on]

And the there would be sent a scratch offset wia DECK SCRATCH command [64+/-64 controller offset] and the at the end when the platter speed and record speed matches DECK SCRATCH ON [note off]. Get it?

OK now you're talking traktor-specific stuff, I don't play with software much, how does traktor support scratching?

I don't think you quite understood what I was talking about.... You don't need to measure the speed difference between the platter and record... You already know what speed the platter is doing because you've set it there, so no need to measure that. You only need to measure the speed of the record. Think simple :)

Ok, yeah, you can like have a preset button, then you start the turntable, wait until it spins to the constant rpm and then hit the preset and from that moment, PIC is considering that data speed to be "middle". Anything less than that is slower (<64) and more is (>64).

How to measure the datrate? TK, F1.

Interesting ideas but they require much lager scale r&d and therfore more time and money to be spent.

A different take on mesuring the angular velocity of a spining disc could use AIN's.

Please do explain your idea, with more details. That solution would probably be the best and smallest in the sense of code size and therefore the processing time.
