  1. read read read read read till you can't see any letters anymore, and then get your hands moving and start building. It will be very very hard for a n00b, but in the end, you've got a working MB AND you lost your n00b status.. And believe me, even if you haven't seen a PCB before, it's really fun!
  2. is pitching with an encoder to weird for DJ's? with the led's you can easily jump, with a motorfader it's a bit tricky'er right?
  3. please please please! use ucapps and the wiki :P http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_doutx4_ledrings.pdf found on the DOUT-module Page... this is a diagram for 16 LEDrings, and you can make them out of max 16 led's each. In this example they use 11 leds/ring
  4. In Ableton 6 you can assign multi-channel-faders knobs pots whateva to 1 fader on your midi-controller. It's on of the best new futures of # 6 So get your update and stop coding ;)
  5. http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=midibox there are more ;D
  6. I've seen a lot on Flickr.com We should make a MB album or something :P
  7. Have you seen this forum? http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?board=15.0
  8. LX has a great way of solving that: http://www.lx.czweb.org/modules/mod-btns.htm get some inspiration ;)
  9. Let me tell you, ableton 6 has lots and lots of new MIDI futures. You might wanna use them with your box, so stop building, get ableton 6, and continue building :P It has support for multi-midi-commands (unlimited crossfaders for everything), group-params, etc. I would really really really want to take a look at that, if I were you.
  10. Please, if you order the boards at SmashTV, try to fill up all the inputs and outputs. It would be sad to have open inputs on your board, while you can use those extra to control some extra effects or something. It's useless to have a board with 32 inputs if you only use 2 of them or something..
  11. I think it's possible, if you trigger the button, that the DOUT switches. Or perhaps some hardware config, but that could be tricky if you have a lot of led's.
  12. U can use any mouse with balls, just turn it around and use the spinning weels and the ball that's already there. Shouldn't be so hard. But please, don't try to midify this. Too much work for something that already excists :P
  13. Ivo, I think it would be better to make the PCB's yourself, there must be some people that can do that for you among friends or even at your school... Saves lots of money, and perhaps you can draw some custom boards so that you can stuff the encoders on a PCB instead making a cable mess. Geloof me, een collega van mij kan ook PCB's maken, en dat werkt een stuk beter dan bestellen uit de VS enzo.. Kost veel te veel!
  14. great job, nice frontplate, etc where did u get that keyboard? out of a midi-controller? or was it in the case before you started?
  15. ucapps.de or the wiki? are you building an DMX module? Or what kinda light do you want to control?
  18. That's a brilliant idea. I'm gonna use this for my box too, if you don't mind ;)
  19. get some coffee, a whole lot of time, and an internet connection. the next 4 days you will be reading and reading and reading ucapps and the wiki, and the forum. then you start thinking about your design, you order some PCB's, mess it up 1 or 2 times, and you'll have something up and running in 2 months if u have some spare time.
  20. Let's ask monolake (Ableton Live) to support the MIDIbox community :P
  21. you could use an oldscool 5 channel fader with 3 band equalizer (faders & pots), and add 32 or 16 encoders in your box for additional control. With a bankstick and some buttons for group/bank, you can control a hell of a lot parameters (8000+). I'm thinking about my multi-purpose design too, but I thought it would be cool to have a old scool mixer sexion, and a new-style parameter tweaking section, with some joysticks, faders, encoders, pots, led rings, led-strips (encoder-volume-bar), etc.
  22. I can say only a few things: Keep up the good work on Ableton (big fan of the program!) Keep using your monodeck, and build many more midiboxes ;)
