blingy
I just ordered two...the price seems reasonable compared to others selling these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/121341596374 I've seen others recommend the Noritakes, I'll post back with how they work in my seq
borfo
it's not clear what the model number is on these ones, but it's probably the same one that I've got. Two CU40025-UW6J's are working fine in my Seq V4. They really look great, and they respond very fast. FYI, Noritake seems to put these displays on sale fairly regularly for 1/2 the listed price on http://noritake-vfd.com/ - my 40x2's were about $23 each + shipping. borfo
Be careful that your wiring is right before connecting them. Apparently VFDs can blow pretty easily if you send voltage to a data pin. - they're drop in replacements for the standard displays used with a Seq V4, except pins 15 and 16 are not connected. You can use the standard cable, just make sure that it's oriented the right way, and pin 15 and 16 are not connected. I had some strange problems with mine to begin with - not sure what the issue was, but for a while only one of them was working with my Seq V4. A second one mysteriously started working a bit later on. I bought 3, and still, only two of the three work. Using the factory test points, it seems that all three are fine, working displays - I'm still not sure what the issue is. But two of them work, which is all I need for now, so I stopped trying to troubleshoot the issue. Edited June 5, 2014 by borfo
Altitude
woah, those PCB mount ones look pretty sweet for $22. Thin as an OLED Not to mention these: https://noritake-vfd.com/cu20045-uw5a.aspx or the fact that the 40x2s are $45 new at that site Edited June 6, 2014 by Altitude
jarvis
Found these VFDs (CU40025-UW9J) on eBay. I emailed Noritake and asked for the datasheet as it's not available on their site and it seems to just be the obsoleted predecessor to the current version (CU40025-UW6J). I can't confirm they work, I just thought it would be a good lead to share, especially at $12/eahttp://www.ebay.com/itm/141836784316 Edited November 25, 2015 by jarvis
