iron Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 Hello, I am trying to buy a new sound card. I play the guitar so i need it to have some sort of input for that and also play around with Propellerhead Reason. Anyone recommend a soundcard that would give me high quality input/output? I dont really care much for surround sound (as in 6 speakers and whatnot). Just want a reliable soundcard with fast response for input and output. I was looking at the Soundblaster Extigy because thats the only company i know. Or maybe anyone has been successful in make a reliable Firewire soundcard or something? something i would make on my own or buy, I prefer the former :). Quote
goyousalukis Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 This one's pretty cheap and has inputs for guitar/bass and microphones:http://www.zzounds.com/item--MDOMOBILEPREI don't own it, but I have a delta 44 from the same company and I like it a lot.Justin Quote
pay_c Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 Yepp, also having the Delta 44 ... pretty ok...The Soundblaster stuff is normally not the stuff you want to have in a studio... Midiman stuff is OK, and Terratec is said to be pretty good (I just *heard* about that up to now from everyone - no personal experience). Search for those companies. Quote
Screaming_Rabbit Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 http://www.rme-audio.com/english/firewire/ff800.htmI don't have it (Firewire), but it's supposed to be the same technology like the Hammerfall Digi9652 I use and I'm very satisfied. The lowest latency I experienced yet. Quote
iron Posted July 9, 2004 Author Report Posted July 9, 2004 What is the latency you guys get on your deltas and how much should i expect on the MobilePre. I think that is what I need. Quote
goyousalukis Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 I haven't noticed any latency on my delta 44 - it has a built-in monitor mixer that is controlled from a software control panel. I'd assume that the mobile-pre is setup the same way. Justin Quote
pay_c Posted July 12, 2004 Report Posted July 12, 2004 I brought my latency down to about 4 ms (Delta 44). I guess with some driver updates I even would come down to the 2 ms.I also own a Midiman Transit, it´s not firewire but USB, but also a very reliable and good thing - latency @ 2 ms. Quote
Sephult Posted August 2, 2004 Report Posted August 2, 2004 Hammerfall DSP w/Nuendo Analog Expensive, but absolutely "0" latency.Best card I've used so far.1/4" -8 in/ 8 outAdat optical I/O (8 IO)Spidf I/O BNC wordclockhuge software mixer, etc... Quote
