Nu-Audio-Science Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 Im guessing because theres no donation link for Thorsten he probably doesnt want one soooooooooooo ,Wouldn't it be nice if we set up some kind of donation scheme and maybe buy him a frontpanel or something every now and again ,I haven't actually built my first box yet but i'd be willing to put money in the kitty for all his great work so far ,Any ideas on this ? moebius Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 Hi,Actually there is a donation link in MIOS SourceForge.net project page.Lets hear from the man himself, but I guess that Thorsten sees that becoming an active forum member - keeping his support efforts in trivial stuff minimum and/or contributing in MIOS/Apps development as support for this incredible project.Bye, Moebius Quote
TK. Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 Thats a difficult topic, since sometimes (not always) people tend to ask for special support once they made a donation, or they are very unhappy when I don't pay enough attention for their personal wishes although they gave me some money. Therefore I don't promote acitivties into this direction. On the other hand: if somebody wants to make a more or less anonymous donation to my PayPal account, I don't prevent him from doing this - this could lead to a bigger frontpanel in the next design, or to new supported device/module which I normaly wouldn't use by myself, just to have some fun on the driver implemention.(Example: alternative, cheaper DACs for the AOUT module, Motorpots, special graphical LCDs, etc...)Moebius alludes to an important point: I'm very happy with the situation that in the meantime most people get superb help from you guys without any effort from my site. Since some weeks I'm able to totally focus on MIDIbox FM when I find the time without beeing distracted from permanent help requests for which nobody takes care about. Under these conditions you can be sure that I will continue with releasing new projects to the public :)Best Regards, Thorsten. Quote
bosone Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 i know thorsten enjoy very much also receiving some CD of music played and produced by MIOS users! ;-)it would be a nice present from us to him! (also because christmas is approaching!) Quote
pay_c Posted November 15, 2004 Report Posted November 15, 2004 Actually there is a donation link in MIOS SourceForge.net project page. Can you give a direct link here? I can´t find it actually... :-X@ TK: I don´t think so, TK. I mean the stuff that people want extra stuff for donations. The first point is that you can make it anonymous (as you do actually) and second point is that you can tell this fact to the people (directly next to the link) that there won´t be any extra support for donations. It´s just the following point: There is SO DAMMIT MUCH TIME in that stuff you built. Doepfer & Co is just kiddy stuff compared to UCApps. (Nearly?) No one will claim new designs just because he/she made a donation for sure. It´s just giving back a *little* due to your effort.Im in there! ;D Quote
moebius Posted November 15, 2004 Report Posted November 15, 2004 Can you give a direct link here? I can´t find it actually... :-XHey man, the link is about in the middle of the page, very hard to miss ;) But anyway:https://sourceforge.net/donate/index.php?group_id=95206Doepfer & Co is just kiddy stuff compared to UCApps. (Nearly?)And these kids not only clone "Moog filters", they also rip off recent DIY designs.. AVOID! (Just have to use my every opportunity to bash them ;))Bye, Moebius Quote
pay_c Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 Thnx for the link! And: Yupp! Doepfer is F***... They are also *really* unfriendly. I once had a Pocket Fader (BEFORE I found UCApps ;D ) and had a question about it and also a good idea as an addon (for bank changing). They did not answer my question and just threw away my suggestion very heavily (they were like "We are Doepfer, we know the stuff, you´re just a customer"). Hands away is also my opinion... Quote
Jack Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 Can I donate hardware?Like LCDs or some old DAC or ... SIX Pack (in German: Kasten Bier ;D) Quote
TK. Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 Better to sell this on Ebay (also Six Packs are sometimes sold with big success ;-)), because my shelfes are already heavily filled with such stuffBest Regards, Thorsten. Quote
