Posted June 6, 2005 Report Share Posted June 6, 2005 This is the MIDIbox SID of Fabian - he built it into an old case of an "electrical thermometer".He wrote (in german - use http://babelfish.altavista.com for translation)Leider sind die durch den Blitz tlw. etwas unvorteilhaft geworden; in echt sieht dass Ding besser aus…Die Fakten:- 1 SID (MOS 8580)- 1 interner Bankstick- kein CSDas Gehäuse ist aus dem Gebrauchtwarenladen und war mal ein elektrisches Thermometer. Es ist aus Bakelit und ca. 50 Jahre alt.Die MIDI-Out Buchse kommt noch; ich hatte keine mehr da…Display ist ein unbeleuchtetes (Geld war knapp) 2x24 Display für ca 4 € von Pollin.Netzteil ist ein +5/+-12-Volt Typ (~3 €) von Pollin; das Core Modul läuft ohne Spannungswandler.Im Übrigen lief der SID sofort, nachdem ich den Changelog von MIOS_1.7 berücksichtigt hatte.Ein sehr schönes Projekt von Dir; ich finde es toll, daß Du Dir die Mühe gemacht hast, das alles zu veröffentlichen!So, hier sind nun die Bilder von der (endgültig) fertigen MBSID :-).Den Audio-Eingang hab ich entfernt und dafür den Joystick eingebautDas joystickpoti ist aus einem Standard Saitek Gamepad, der Hebel ist ein abgesägter Kuli…Auf dem Joystick liegen die CCs für Cutoff und Finetune; das bin ich von meinem alten SH-101 gewöhnt.Da ich auf die Schnelle keinen Encoder bekommen hab hier, hab ich erstmal einen zweiseitigen Kipptaster eingebaut zum Scrollen. p-cord Posted June 7, 2005 Report Share Posted June 7, 2005 Hi, nice to see my MBSiD here…:)I'll give some words in English about it; I also changed some things since I sent the pics to Thorsten:It's built inside the bakelite case of an old thermometer,it features one SID (MOS 8580), one internal bankstick, the simple Control-Surface and a Joystick.I originally used rocker-buttons for the CS (on the pics); meanwhile I replaced them with an encoder with an included button.I illuminated the non-backlit display with green LEDs, that works quite well. (that display was only 3,95 €, so I got it for saving purposes).It's a 2x24 Display, but shows only 5 menu-items, since that saved me from soldering another 10 resistors, a 74hc595 and all the changes in the mios-tables-inc just for one button…I'm planning to mount a new panel over the LCD which covers the unused part.The joystick is ripped from a standard USB-Gamepad (< 10 € and had two of them!) and is connected directly to J5 on the Core-module. It is assigned to the CCs of cutoff and Osc 1/2/3 Finetune. The joystick lever used to be a ball-pen which I cut off, glued onto it and sealed the top with epoxy.That's it… I love it, it's so much fun!
