hello,

Do you know where I can find cheap 19" enclosures.

I want to build my MD"thorsten"Sid synth in a rack.

I'm searching for a 1, 4, 3 and 4 U rack enclosures.

The price is realy expensive for such a thing. it's only made of folded steel  ???

I've mailed schaeffer app.  because I saw they have really well-built profiles to make his own rack but it's quite expensive. and the pack of 6 pannels to make the box are too much expensive.

Schaffer is rvery good for milling the pannels but the premium material is quite expensive too.

Do you know companies who sell 19" cabinets in europ for low cost?

I want this kind of stuff:

Thank you...

Best regards

Damien

Hi,

19" equipment is never cheap, the best you can find is it being less expensive than somewhere else, but never  really cheap. I too want to have a 19" enclosure for my SIDBox, and also want it to slope, for that nice table-top effect. If I cannot find what I'm looking for I will probably order the frontpanel from Schaeffer, and make the casing myself, from a piece of wood or MDF.

With a bit of luck I can find someone who'll be able to weld such a case for me out of aluminium plating, that would be really nice.

Cheers,  Alex.

For a really cheap one

go to old second-hand/junk shops and buy an old rack mount case then you can chop it up and paint it eg I picked up a 8 way rack mount power box for 10 euros, needed a bit of work to mod it but looks sweet now.

Alright,

somebody told me wher I could find what I'm looking for.

You have to go there : http://www.stquentin.net/coffret/esmer.htm

it's a shop in France which certainly deliver to europe.

the 19" racks are very cheap:

1U *138cm(d) - 31,00€ VAT

2U * 238cm(depth) - - 65,00€ VAT

4U *238cm(d) - 82,50€ VAT

that's quite nice.

This is the best one who sells the best boxes for the sid project...

See you soon.

Hello Damien.

Did you buy any parts/enclosures from that french company? I found your link to them and they have alot of useful things. My problem is that they do not seem to have an email address, and no english information. I had to use babelfish to understand anything :)

Have you been in contact with them? If so, how does it look?

Regards Anders
