Nice find! It is being funny that it actually took a little bit of an effort to find couple of old soundcards to get these little chips. First I thought that these shouldn't be hard to find but.. This could be a good source for FM syth parts if someone just wants to arrange up things some :)  For some reason though there seems not to be quite many of Midibox FM synth builders? Hmm..

Hi all,

Xanboroon and I are pretty interested in such a bulk order. Up to now, we've been too lazy to try to find old SB cards I must say...

We are looking for 2x YMF262-M and 4x YAC512 in total.

Best regards,

Lall

I wanted to say the http address of the first post works great.

I've sent my question one houre ago and after a few exchange i've just ordered 4 * YMF262 and 8*YAC 512.

They accept paypal.

They should be posted tomorow and arrive to my home next week.

Price: 5$ each component (minimal order 50$, that's why i ordered 4 kits)

Shipping to France : 17$.

(I'll sell at least 2 Kits when i receive them. The price they cost me + shipping.)

Just wanted to say that the chips arrived this morning... shiny new and well packaged.

I've already been contacted so there is no more to sell.

But the address in the first message of this thread work well.

Try email, someone told me that by phone the minimal order was 180$ (!!!!!).

Now i'm waiting for smashTV PCB.....  ;)

Regards,

Xavier

Hi,

If the group buy is still happening count me. Im not that familiar with the OPL module, whats the difference between the YAC512 and the YMF262? Why can you have 2 of the YAC512 and is that better or doe you need all of them in there? In any case if theres an order I will be in for at least the minimum to build the FM synth, maybe enough for 2-3 of the units. Can you chain the OPL boards like the SID to have more in one box?

Thanks,

John

The YMF262 is the synthesizer, and the YAC512 is the DAC for it. Most sound cards got only 1 stereo DAC, but the chip can support two of them, so you have 4 channels. That's why if someone would have YAC512 chips only for sale, that would be really nice, because when you get used sound cards you already have one DAC and the synth chip.
