In case anyone cares...

A friend who shot photos for catalogs, said that when they shoot displays (computer monitor, backlit LCD, etc.):  1.  They first shoot the device with the display turned off.

2.  Then they turn out the lights, turn the display on, and shoot the image again.

You need to stabilize the camera (tripod), but combining the images allows you to see the display without glare, and without compromizing the image of the device.
