Ahoy!! from sunny South Africa.

New to your Forum. Because of the parts promlem in S.A is it posible to use mouse wheels with led level indicators instead of faders?

Faders are imposible to find.

Strangely, other parts are very cheap.

PCB also cheap ei: 0.6c/us per cm2

Regard from Africa 8)

Would it be possible to mount 10k pots horizontally and attach some kind of wheel similar to a mouse wheel on the Pot's post.  That in conjuction with a row of leds from the DOUT modual could then be used to show the fader position.  Touch sensitivity could then be added the same way as a mouse wheel can function like a third button.

The touch sensitivity part would require some skill I think, but the the pot alone would be easy to wire up.

William,

I like your diagram! Though I can't see any benifit over using standard pots, which work on absolute values, mounted normally. Or just mail order some slider pots. Best of all is motorised pots, or endless rotary encoders. (a 10k pot is not an endless rotary encoder device) Using mouse encoders in the way you have described is a good idea in concept, though I for one would never have the time or patience to build such a design! (and I'm a metalworker by trade!)

good luck, welcome to our little world of diy midi!

 bye, from Steve
