matoz Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 Hello all, i have problem with MBFM.All is good but the sound is very very weak. The tl074 are new and i have +12 and -12 on pin 4 and 11 of tl074's.Why the sound is very small? ??? Quote
matoz Posted September 19, 2007 Author Report Posted September 19, 2007 Can it be a PSU problem?I use two 12v 1A adptator with OPL3 PSU and one 9V 1A adaptator directly on core module. Regulators are not hot, i checked all, it seems to be good, i have +12v , GND , -12V for OPL3.It is the third time i built Core-OPL3 and at this time I have new YMF262 and YAC512, i have sound, but very very little! ??? stryd_one Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 Heya matoz, we talked about this is the chatroom, did you get it working? Quote
matoz Posted September 25, 2007 Author Report Posted September 25, 2007 I tryed another PSU and i have the same results. At one moment i have a very big noise 5 to 20 sec and it disapear and time to time, i can hear Testtone very well 5 to 20 sec and it disapear too :-\ and after, i have the very big noise. I think i have a problem with a Capacitor but whitch? ??? I will change 100pF ones because i can' t read the value, perhaps the dealer have done a mistake. So, the other values seems to be good. /tilted/ Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 Can it be a PSU problem?i have +12v , GND , -12V for OPL3.Tell me you also have +5v on the OPL3 board... Quote
matoz Posted September 25, 2007 Author Report Posted September 25, 2007 Of course, i have 5v on J1 Quote
RoyalScam Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 I hate to ask this, and I really don't mean to offend, but is the synth plugged into an amplifier, or have you just connected speakers to the outputs?RoyalScam Quote
matoz Posted September 26, 2007 Author Report Posted September 26, 2007 Yes, no problem.I would be happy if it would be only that!I replaced 100pF caps and there is no more big noise.I can hear testtone or Rhodes piano, very slightly, only on output 1 and 3. On output 2 and 4, i have nothing. Quote
TK. Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 Hi Matoz, can hear testtone or Rhodes piano, very slightly, only on output 1 and 3. On output 2 and 4, i have nothing.thats a good sign. It means, that the core can control the OPL3 module, that the YMF262 is running, and that the connections between YMF262 and YAC512 are (probably) ok.Do you hear the sounds on the OP amp inputs I1+/I2+/I3+/I4+ of IC6 (the output buffer)? If not, visually check (extensively) the connections between the two YAC512 and IC3/IC5 - due to the small pin size of the SMD parts, a open (not soldered) or shortened junction is very likely.Best Regards, Thorsten. matoz Posted September 27, 2007 Author Report Posted September 27, 2007 Thanks for your answer, Thorsten, It gives me hope again! ;)I will test that this evening. Opl3 is not dead! >:(Best regards Quote
matoz Posted October 10, 2007 Author Report Posted October 10, 2007 YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSS, It works! ;D ;D ;DI have changed 2.7nF caps and i have resolder some parts. And now, it works very well!!!! Thank you all!But i had a problem last night with Bankstick.Does MBFM support 512k bankstick? Quote
TK. Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 Fine! :)I guess you mean a 24LC512 - yes, it's supported, but it doesn't make a difference if you connect a 24LC256 or 24LC512, only 32k will be used.Best Regards, Thorsten. Quote
matoz Posted October 11, 2007 Author Report Posted October 11, 2007 When i tryed to load patchs with TL's Patch manager 0.7, it is written " bank A not available" . Why?Bankstick was formated, i don' t understand. ??? Quote
TK. Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Since you've posted this question also in the french forum, I'm not sure if the issue is already solved.I don't know, why TL's patch manager shouldn't be able to access Bank A... maybe some pins of the EEPROM are not connected?Best Regards, Thorsten. matoz Posted October 15, 2007 Author Report Posted October 15, 2007 Yes, it works very well ;DIt was a problem with bankstick connections. Thanks all!! ;) Quote
stryd_one Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 That's great news matoz... Maybe you could take a few minutes to document the answer here (in English) so that others who might have this problem in future can find the answer with a search ;) Quote
matoz Posted October 15, 2007 Author Report Posted October 15, 2007 TL' s patch manager refused to send MBFM patchs besause EEprom were bad soldered and bad formated.I have formated with SEQv3, (MBsid could not format EEprom formated with MBFM, it made a loop!??) and i could reformate correctly with MBFM. ;) Quote
stryd_one Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 Thanks mate :)MBsid could not format EEprom formated with MBFM, it made a loop!??That's strange... [me=stryd_one]looks at TK[/me]:D Quote
TK. Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 Yes, thats an error in MBSID V1, which won't be fixed anymore (as this is an untypical corner case)Best Regards, Thorsten. Quote
