More Bourns/SmashTV Encoder questions

I am finishing up my CV and have a questions about using the bourns/Smashtv encoders.  The bourns parts seem to skip 2 steps for every detent (the alpha ones I have for another project work fine).  Where exactly do I specify "encoder2" if that is the solution?

TK made a detented_3 mode especially for the bourns encoders, you can find details in the SID forum somewhere.
