4xMBHP_CORE : need to solder LCD and MIDI components?
alchemist replied to alchemist's topic in Parts Questions
OK, I programmed the 3 other PICs then moved them on their MBHP_CORE -
4xMBHP_CORE : need to solder LCD and MIDI components?

Thanks for the tip : I will program my 3 other PICs from the Core #0, this is a safe solution. -
4xMBHP_CORE : need to solder LCD and MIDI components?
alchemist replied to alchemist's topic in Parts Questions
I have an other related question : I see that I don't have to interconnect MIDI Out connections. How do the MIOS / application upload work? Will the main core transmit ACK messages to MIOS Studio? -

4xMBHP_CORE : need to solder LCD and MIDI components?
alchemist replied to alchemist's topic in Parts Questions
Something like that: -
Hello, I have a question : in a multiple MBHP_CORE set-up (for a MIDIbox SID), do I need to solder the LCD and MIDI part for cores #2, #3 and #4, since there will be no LCD for them, and MIDI should go through J11? So, I could avoid to solder: - The regulator part: IC3, X1, C5 and C6 (power through J2) - The LCD part: P1, P2, T1, R4 (and R3?), but well use 1N4148 diodes for the CAN bus - The MIDI part: R5, R6, R7, R8, R11, D1 (recycled for CAN bus), IC2, J12, J13? - The DIN/DOUT buses: J8 and J9 - The AIN/AOUT buses: J6 and J7 So, there remain only the PIC, the oscillator, pull-ups resistors and filtering caps, J2, J4, J10, J11, and some pins of J15 Is it correct? EDIT: and do I need 1 banckstick per core, or is it shared from core #1 to other cores?

+5V, +9V and +12V regulators from the same AC/DC adapter?

that should be OK since I will use 12 V DC input ;) -
+5V, +9V and +12V regulators from the same AC/DC adapter?
alchemist replied to alchemist's topic in Parts Questions
Thanks! What would be the recommended power for the convertors ? Are those OK ? http://www.reichelt.de/TSRN-1-2490/3/index.html?&ACTION=3&LA=446&ARTICLE=124099&artnr=TSRN+1-2490 http://www.reichelt.de/TSRN-1-2450/3/index.html?&ACTION=3&LA=446&ARTICLE=124097&artnr=TSRN+1-2450 There is also this, but 1W: http://www.reichelt.de/DC-DC-Inverters/SIM1-1209-SIL4/3/index.html?&ACTION=3&LA=3&ARTICLE=57502 http://www.reichelt.de/DC-DC-Inverters/SIM1-1205-SIL4/3/index.html?&ACTION=3&LA=3&ARTICLE=35028 -
+5V, +9V and +12V regulators from the same AC/DC adapter?
alchemist replied to alchemist's topic in Parts Questions
Hello, Thank you for the reply ! The power needed would be for - 4 x MBHP_CORE - 8 x MBHP_SID - 2 x MBHP_DOUT - 3 x MBHP_DIN - 4 x SID 6581 (+12V) - 4 x SID 8580 (+9V) - 1 x LCD display (20x2) - and about 80 LEDs for the Control Surface At term, I will use a C64 PSU, but this will come later, and I would like to use an other PSU before I get it. I will check the power needed by element, then compute the power consumed by each 78xx regulator. -
Hello, Can I plug in parallel three 78xx regulators to get +5, +9 and +12V from the same 15V DC adaptor ? Is it better to do that in parallel or serial (+12, then +9, then +5)? (its for a full MIDIbox SID set-up, with 4 cores, 4 6581 and 4 8580, hence the 3 voltages). For now, I plug a 9V DC for +5V and 15V DC for +12, but I would like to minimize the AC adaptors. I don't see a problem, but I could say an heresy, and would be sure I wouldn't overload the 78xx with too high voltage or drained current.

FrontPanel for C64 / Display of 40x2 and 8x8 LED matrix?
alchemist replied to alchemist's topic in MIDIbox SID
Hello, I have tried this: The FPD is here: http://www.xaviermiller.be/images/MIDIboxSID/20140521/mbsidv2_xavier.fpd I will use a single plate for the 2 upper left panels. What do you think? -
FrontPanel for C64 / Display of 40x2 and 8x8 LED matrix?

I will try something this evening. -
It's "rare" and "brand new" (= in french : with scratches, and to be bought for pieces)
-
French... they like to sell twice as the price ;)

Mixing multiple MHBP_SID outputs recommendations?
alchemist replied to alchemist's topic in MIDIbox SID
Thanks for your ideas ! I think I will try to provide 8 individual + 2 mixed outputs. I have found one or two Op Amps from the time I was reading Elex (25 years ago). This could sound quite... vintage ;) -
Mixing multiple MHBP_SID outputs recommendations?

I already have a Behringer RX1602, but it is full. I can also use a small mixer, but I would like to integrate the sound mixing into the C64 box. -
Mixing multiple MHBP_SID outputs recommendations?

Thank you. I will first try with a passive resistors matrix, and later an active system with individual volumes. -
Hello, How do you mix the outputs of the SID modules, if you have more than 1 pair (e.g. 4 pairs)? - mix table ? - static passive mix (using resistors) ? - active mix (using IC's) ?

Hello, I have now 1 6581 and will get a v1 C64 (with a 2nd 6581). Later, I would like expand the config to have 4x6581 and 4x8580R5 Is it possible to power all that configuration with the original C64 PSU and one 7809 ? I guess I could adapt the mbhp_8xsid_c64_psu_optimized.pdf document like that: - connect the 6581 as explained - connect the 8580R5 on the 7809 (+9V and ground) Will it work?
-
Hello, I would like create a Control Surface based on a C64 like this: I have a 40x2 display in place of the 20x2, and I would like to have a 8x8 matrix, as the latest SID application supports them. Is there a modified frontpanel template with that setup? If not, I will edit the original one and provide the modification. http://ucapps.de/midibox_sid/mbsidv2_front.fpd
-
The 2 MBHP_DOUT are done : Tomorrow, I get a C64, so that I will have - a PSU - a 2nd 6581 - a box :)
