Reichelt in Duitsland is goedkoop, maar de verzendkosten zijn weer extreem hoog. In Nederland heb je Conrad, maar die is ook weer niet goedkoop. Mocht je iets vinden schroom dan niet om het met ons te delen ;)

Voor een uurloon van €50 wil ik het wel voor je doen. Ik verwacht er alleen wel zo'n 20 uur mee bezig te zijn, en dan heb je nog materiaalkosten etc. dus ik denk dat je beter iets van Doepfer kunt gaan kopen (Drehbank of Regelwerk ofzo). Als je dingen custom wilt hebben, zul je het zelf moeten maken. Ik denk dat de meeste mensen die hier ronf hangen net als ik maar nauwelijks tijd hebben om aan hun eigen project te werken. En als je er toch geen hoge eisen aan stelt kun je het helemaal zelf het beste doen. [edit] als je de modules nou eens koopt van Chris-electronikseite, dan hoef je alleen nogmaar de knoppen, leds, faders en pots te monteren/solderen. [/edit]

The transformer is a the large black thing I guess, well it takes up about one sixth of the board if I remember correctly. The Caps on the other hand where not so big... I'll take a picture this weekend and try to post it. Please tell me more about the filters to use a switching PSU on "demanding" equipment.

I don't know where you have to pay $11 for encoders, but I can get them in Holland for "only" €2,80 and that's considered quite expensive ??? I think you misread something or haven't searched good enough, there has to be a cheaper source of electonical stuff where you live...

Number . 5 . needs . more . input . . . ;D So how does that work, requiring a load before it'll work? It's a PSU from a 286, I estimate it's from around 1993 as the CPU was a 12 MHz AMD. Did they use switching PSU's that time?

OK, what is the difference between a "normal" PSU and a switching PSU? How can you tell the difference? And why is a switching PSU bad?

Hi, I just disassembled an old 286 computer, and I noticed that the AT powersupply looked useful for my MidiBox. It's basucally just a PCB with the required parts, no casing or other useless metal. It is equipped with a noise filter. It has the standard +5V -5V +12V -12V and GRND leads, but is this PSU useable for a MidiBox? (The -12V is probably useful for my LCD.)

MSPaint can do most of that, exept the zoom isn't that high and a grid is not available, and the export isn't there. I use it to create almost everything I need graphically, but then again the prog sucks a*s...

Definitely use an IC-puller, those cost ¤5 at most, which is way less that any SID, with or without the added frustration of killing the beauty.

Hi, 19" equipment is never cheap, the best you can find is it being less expensive than somewhere else, but never really cheap. I too want to have a 19" enclosure for my SIDBox, and also want it to slope, for that nice table-top effect. If I cannot find what I'm looking for I will probably order the frontpanel from Schaeffer, and make the casing myself, from a piece of wood or MDF. With a bit of luck I can find someone who'll be able to weld such a case for me out of aluminium plating, that would be really nice. Cheers, Alex.

Sorry, ik had niet begrepen dat het met pinnetjes ging, ik dacht 3,5mm jacks te lezen. Maar ik wil er juist geen retro bak van maken, maar juist eentje die er hi-tech uitziet, en dan een vet retro geluid geeft. Dank je voor de schema's, ik ga eens kijken of ik er iets van begrijp ;D (Ik durf namelijk te bewerken dat ik goed ben in ontwerpen, maar van electronica heb ik nog weinig kaas gegeten :o )

Het is wel duidelijk dat je je niet hebt verdiept in de MIDIBox :) Zo'n matrix waarbij je patchcords moet gebruiken is niet eens mogelijk, omdat de hele control surface in software is, evenals de LFO's en ENV's. Die sturen dus CC's uit naar de SID chip. Daarnaast lijkt mij de kosten van een hele patchbay met kabels vrij prijzig worden, en in software kun je 1 LFO/ENV meerdere bronnen laten moduleren, waarbij met gebruik van kabels de jack bezet is en dus maar 1 bron kan aansturen. De kosten vallen best mee op de huidige manier: 56 LEDjes, 15 drukknoppen, en 1DIN4X en 1 DOUT4X module. Ik hou me aanbevolen voor je schema's! Gr, Alex.

Hoi, de aansluiting van de Matrix staat nog niet vast, maar na overleg met Thorsten is de meest voor de hand liggende methode het gebruik van 8x7 ledjes, met voor iedere rij en kolom een drukknop. Druk de 2 knoppen in die corresponderen met het kruispunt van de functie die je wilt hebben, en het ledje gaat aan (en de functie wordt actief natuurlijk). De voedig moet 12v gelijkspaning leveren (op de Core module zit een gelijkrichter, maar op de SID module geloof ik niet), maar het signaal moet wel zo clean mogelijk zijn. De SID modules trekken ieder minder dan 100mA, de Cores trekken ongeveer 500mA als een (backlit) display is aangesloten, en ongeveer 100mA als ze zonder display werken. Aangezien ik de backlight apart ga aansluiten kun je uitgaan van 100mA. De Cores werken wel op 7V tot 10V, of ze ook 12V kunnen hebben weet ik niet, maar ze hoeven in ieder geval niet zo'n stabiele toevoer te hebben als de SIDs. De overige modules trekken hun stroom uit de core, dus op een rijtje: 100mA 12V *3 100mA 7V-10V *3 500mA 12V 800mA 12V en 300mA 7V-10V dus. Alles gelijkspanning maar, hoewel de 7V dus ook wissel mag zijn. Als we uitgaan van 1A 12V en 500mA 7V-10V hebben we ook nog lekker wat overhead, wat handig kan zijn voor het interne geheugen wat ook geplanned staat 8) De interne voeding is geen verplichting, maar ik hou nou eenmaal niet van losse adapters, gaan altijd stuk of raken kwijt. ;) Als je wat vette demo's wilt horen moet je even demo's 1 en 8 van Thorsten downloaden van de MIDIBox SID pagina: http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_sid.html Vooral nummer 8 is übervet. For the control surface you'll need 3 DOUTX4 modules. Thorsten, the Unisono mode looks a little overkill to me, if I read correctly ALL SIDS will be controlled at once. A single SID already has 3 voices, which can be used to create a 3 layer Unisono patch, which will sound really fat, because the SID has a natural fat sound 8), but I think layering even more voices is not relly useful, or is it? The way I understand now is that one SID can only produce one sound at a time. But sometimes one OSC can produce such a fat sound you don't need the others for the same sound, and in this situation I would like to be able to use the remaining OSCs for other sounds, thus not linked to the same keys that trigger the first OSC, or is this impossible in your design? I am also going to use MIDI In and Out LEDs, but I'm going to place them on the back of the case, not the top. If they're flashing constantly they could become distracting ::) I suppose. I will place them directly abobe the corresponding MIDI ports. The connection between the Control Surface and multiple SID modules will be via the channels where normally the MIDI signals would pass through, I suppose...

Die encoder is fokking veel te duur, de ¤2,80 ex. btw van RS is al veel te duur. met een beetje mazzel krijg ik de ALPS STEC voor ¤1,80 ex. btw ex. verzendkosten. Wat ik nog wel zoek is een interne voeding, dus "gewoon" 230v eurostekker aansluiting en transformator en shit in de case. Als jij nog een schematje mocht hebben liggen hou ik me aanbevolen. Hoi Jeffrey, leuk om je hier te zien :) . Opeens waren er allerlei toestanden op het sintforum en sindsdien heb ik je niet meer gezien (althans, niet onder de naam Twin-X...). Op de site van de Midibox 16e staat welke encoders gebruikt kunnen worden, ik heb te weinig verstand van electronica om te beoordelen of die van jou ook geschikt zijn. Ik kan overigens via een vriend met een eigen bedrijfje wel bestellen bij bedrijven als RS of Schuricht, maar RS is duur en Schuricht zit in Duitsland. Ik hoop dat forum-lid TzahnZsu (vast verkeerd gespeld) mij wil helpen door bij Schuricht te bestellen, hij regelt ook al wat Waldorf knoppen voor me, echt relaxed. 8) Is jouw TB30302 al definitief af? Hallo, ik ben op zoek naar de ALPS STEC16B36 of STEC16B03 encoders. Bij RS components in Haarlem hebben ze de STEC16B03, maar RS levert alleen aan bedrijven, en is vrij duur (1-9 ¤3,06 / 10-49 ¤2,82 / 50-99 ¤2,64). Volgens Thorsten moet deze encoder bij het Duitse bedrijf Schuricht ¤1,80 kosten, ik hoop dan ook dat er in Nederland ook een zaakje is die bij dezeprijs in de buurt komt, ik heb er toch een kleine 25 nodig... We kunnen nog even bij RS-components informeren, die zitten in Haarlem, daar kan ik makkelijk ophalen, scheelt weer verzendkosten. Die verkopen trouwens ook de ALPS STEC Rotary Encoders die thorsten aanbeveelt voor de midibox 16e en familie, dus als die kunnen en willen leveren is dat 2 vliegen in 1 klap.

Weet er inmiddels iemand welke zaken aan quantum-korting doen? Of heeft er iemand al wat ander vooronderzoek gedaan?
