I think it's doable if you "don't care about" latency. Maybe you can add external RAM (as far as I remember the pic18f452 as got 1.5Kb of ram).

oh sure I can give the eagle file for the pcb, and the code to se inot MIOS. Actually those pga (I use the 4311, 4 channels, but you can chain them to control more channels ;)) are very easy to use! only a SPI (4 wire) interface with the core module. yes! I saw this article and tey said that the pga2311 sound really good. I use the pga4311 and they seems to be good (but I didn't make a lot of test until now), it's quite easy to use it with mios. Maybe a cheaper solution. But it has "only" 95db, I mean the you can change the gain betwee +31.5 and -60db or something like that (and mute of course).

pour le transfo, il te faut au minimum 8V (car il faut 3V de plus que la tension de sortie du régulateur), 500mA ca devrait largement suffir :) Pour le cablage, pas besoin de blinder, ca devrait etre ok tant que tes cables ne sont pas trop long (moins de 1m ou un truc comme ca). voilou ;)

mm a maxim DAC? I though about a pcm or I2S dac, maybe better for audio, with his own memory and clock system, to keep a good sync (hard to do with one pic). Making a hardware ring buffer shouldn't be hard. When the half of the buffer has been outputed, it make an interupt, handle by the pic which fill it with the new samples. So we have a lot of "time" to handle a user interface with the pic and why not some mixing? For example with the 18f452 (10Mips), we can make about 200 instruction for each data @ 48Khz. yeah, seems doable :) designing it shouldn't be a real problem too.

mmm shouldn't be hard to do, but where to store the sample? I though about a beatbox with mios, but the pic18f452 isn't fast enough for sound mixing. But if you just it to play sound, it can be easy :) the DAC side can be "stand alone", always reading the same adress in the memory, the pic just have to handle mem copy, not too hard to do.

mmm a ma connaissance seul P&G propose de tel fader... minimum 150euros pièces je pense... peut etre qu'un fader type servo couplé à un VCA, ou alors un des tout dernier PGA (Programmable Gain Control ou un truc comme ca) de chez TI serait moins couteux? Les pga sont réputé pour etre de très très bonne qualité (cf elektor de ce mois-ci), je vais les utiliser pour un convertisseur AD/DA ADAT, et en utilisant MIOS. J'ai déja tester et c'est vrai que ca sonne bien, mais je ferai des tests plus poussé kan meme. Ah sinon regarde sur ebay j'ai deja vu des fader motorisé, assez vioeux, un peu chère, mais avec pistes audio (et servo donc je pense).

ben oui ca semble etre des cavaliers... mais avec les modules DIN et DOUT? faudrai lui demander... Mais la dernière fois ke je lui ais parler il me disait que les commandes de kit au exploser, alors peut etre il fait quelque erreurs (car les cavalier sont nécéssaire pour le module core)

je pense que c'est OK car le N de la fin determine le type de package, Ã savoir un DIL la je pense donc ca devrait etre OK. mais sinon commande des samples chez TI :)

mm deja vu l'avis très positif du vendeur, c'est bon signe. Ensuite il semble que ca soit les meme que ceux proposé par NG micro (à $5 pièces). donc si la les 5 c'est 10 euros, regarde avec les frais de ports mais je pense que ca vaut le coup! demande le datasheet au vendeur, mais au vu des specs qu'il donne ca semble etre tout OK. ;)

ouaw! big design ;) Well, I think you can use one LCD per channel (the nokia one! you can out, if I'm right, 8 of theses on one core!!). I think the midi protocol can handle more data I think...??? And yes you can link 2 or 3 or 4 core to have more in and out ;) so yes you project is doable! :D
