  1. this seems to me a VERY easy to build PIC Programmer http://home.maine.rr.com/randylinscott/aug20.htm
  2. as far as i can see all of u do solder everything ! but some experts tell me it will be wiser and easier if i will use the wire-wrap technique ! considering i will not about to make/buy the PCBs for this (too complicated/expensive for me)... what would u suggest ?
  3. dont close the list yet..... i & i would like 2 sets ! btw : it is 1 set per synth right ? so if i got 2 sets i can build 2 fm, seen ??
  4. i want to build this ! but it probably will take lots of time... so what module (that allready exist) can i start with ?? the core module ?! and what else !!
  5. hi whats up with that FM synth ?? should i start looking for some old soundblasters ?? when will it be released/realized ?
  6. hi i want to build me a synth so... which one is easier to build (considering de-soldering) ? whixh one is cheaper ? which one is easier to find parts (chips) to ? which one is more friendly to work with ? which one got a better sound ? i know the last one is a discussion on its own and probably could be answered as it is a subject of personal taste... but which got a deeper bass, more crisp sound, etc.
  7. thanks Pierrot !! this is realy interesting, RESPECT for the hard work/patience. i dont think i will ever do those buttons/knobs but still a few questions : - i see the hole in the knob is round ! how did u fixed it ?? - me personally more interested in making the (wood) case. please send more pictures of how u made it - what do u mean by "wood , paper , plastic and mastic" ?? the wood and mastic i understand but how did u use the paper and plastic ? i REALY liked the shape of this case !!! rounded ! no corners ! i want to make one myself ! so can u tell more details (as detailed as u can) ? general question : is there a preference for wood/plastic/metal case when thinking on electronics ? thinking of 'grounding'...'static electricity' ... etc. and Pierrot: that is a VERY nice studio u got there... what kind of music r u creating ? where can i hear it ?
  8. wow !!! this is awesome !!! and its all DIY !! (did i say awesome allready ?) where can i learn how to make those knobs/buttons ? what materials did u use for the case ? wood is the base but how did u make ir that round ? MORE PICTURES PLEASE !!! was it worth the money? i mean... would'nt it be cheaper just buying the knobs/buttons ?
  9. how did u made those buttons ? they look like u took them out from an ordinary computer keyboard ? is there a topic on how to make those ? can u point me there ? i want to learn how make this ! this looks VERY nice with the backlight !
  10. Congratulations Artesia! you've done a great work i love your design, and happy it is the one ! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  11. search google.com for : 6n138 sample !! if u look good enough u'll find some free samples ;D! i did that not long ago, have'nt recieved the parts yet. i dont even remember where did i ordered from, i think it was something like "fairchild"
  12. did someone tried using a "transparancy" paper ? when printing on those, it seems the ink doesnt "soak" into it like an ordinary paper - only because it is made of plastic ! so maybe it is easier to transfer the image with it ?!
  13. i TOTALLY agree with "http://xmidi.com/bluetooth.html" i had enough with cables-messing-around ! the future is wireless !! this Bluetooth seems an excellent solution ! look at this (reciever?) : http://www.bluetooth.com/products/prods.details.asp?CPID=840&CAT=16
  14. well..... :-/ :-/ :-/......yes but no ! thats the idea but £400 ??? NO WAY !! i thought of something much simpler, like i said before - maybe another pcb (transmitter) that could go inside of every simple MidiBox no £400 !!!!
  15. it is more of a gadget then a necessarity.... do you think a "remote-midi" can be realized ? instead of this bulky cables runnig all around your studio you'll have another module connecting to your core which will be transmitting midi-data to a reciever unit at the other side of your studio ! possible ?
  16. (open your "reverb" effect full-on set to "stadium") Ladies & Gentlemen, Good evening and welcome to the MDIDBOX.ORG arena ! It is a pleasure to see you all, so many of you, gathered around ! And all in the name of MIDIBOXing ! In the last couple of months we have indeed grown to be a community large and wide as never seen before in the days of midi-diy ! This is all thanks to TK : the father who gave birth to midi-diy as we know it today. Much respect to this relentless innovator and developer, may he prosper and continue surprising us with his imagination. Much respect also goes to all the people standing beside TK, helping him and us realizing our dreams, even when sometimes seems impossible - we know who you are ! And we never forget that all you're work is done without any propose for profit (of any kind), as this is the "hart" of MIDIBOX.ORG : fun, un-commercial, profitless and for-all ! RESPECT AND THANK YOU ! Now we will proceed to the main event of the evening : The revealing of the MIDIBOX.ORG LOGO ! We, as a community so large and active and world spread, need a SYMBOL to represent us ! WE NEED A LOGO ! A logo to go on every box made, so that when seen it is known that this box is a MIDIBOX ! A symbol to be on our pcb, so that no mistake can be made to the roots of it ! A sign on our sid, so that them who don't know us will know where these sounds are coming from ! And even a print on our shirts and hats so we can recognize each other and say : "you are my brother"! Ladies & Gentlemen , Please welcome the MIDIBOX.ORG LOGO !!! Use it wisely ! Use it as much as you can ! Let it be your sign ! Wear it with pride ! Tell the all world you are a MIDIBOXer !!! [glow=red,2,300]NOW WE HAVE A LOGO [/glow] oh yes, you can find it here : http://www.midibox.org/logo/midibox_logo.jpg
  17. MORE photos please !!! inside, outside and all around !! where is your Midi-in ?? what are those LEDs saying ?
  18. this is for inspiration only (price tag way too funken high) http://www.openlabs.com/neko64.php
  19. hello me too, me too, me two
  20. OK i hear you ! thanks is there some rule about this ? like : (maximum voltage of circuit) + (5 volt) * (number of splifs you smoked today)
  21. Hello ! How do I determine the voltage of a polarized capacitor ?? I mean is there some rule for this ?? I need to know the voltage of : on MIDIBOXPLUS : 1uF (c6 + c5) ; 10uF (c3) ; 2200uF (c7) ; last two are on the power supply on MERGER 10uF on PC-MIDI here : http://users.chariot.net.au/~gmarts/miditech.htm#Running there is a 10uF Tantlum (drawing at bottom of page)
  22. i m about to build a MIDImerger but i've noticed it needs an external power supply, which is not what i planned !! (i want it to be protable as possible) is it possible to power it with a battery (say 9v) ??
  23. hey - see what i found... on uCApps.de >> FAQ section >> "i dont have midi interface..." three links (only two working) that answer my question EXACTLY ! this seems to be best : http://users.chariot.net.au/~gmarts/miditech.htm#Running 1 in, 1 thru, 2 out,out LED, in/thru LED somebody tried this one ??
  24. it must be a stand-alone !! the midi to com is NOT stand-alone !! it would be great if it WAS stand-alone, because i read somewhere that it is 20% faster the usb !! true ? is there a such device ? i've seen the to-gameport device, it have only 1 in - i need MORE - at least 2 ! which connection is faster : com / gameport / usb ??
  25. jah people ::) i have seen the USB module and its way over my soldering skills ! me searching for a circuit to connect MIDI to the soundcard midi port (joystick) must be simple (parts AND soldering) ! must be stand alone (not part of MBHP) ! with no external power needed ! preferably 2 ins and 2 outs ! in + out LEDs ! is it going to be faster or slower then the USB ? what is the USB latency ? what is the above latency
