Those black dots have the driver IC's under them so that's bad :( Hard to say what's wrong, if you know you've connected power to it correctly, then perhaps it was DOA?
-
10 points for honesty mike ;) I'm dying for a full-on demo, moogs'! Keep up the good work man!

Yeh that does rock! Scored instant wife approval factor too! (She loves chip synths, every time she hears me play a demo of one she goes crazy. This time she jumped up and shouted 'Oooh what're you playing can I play too!?' ;D ) On another thread someone was talking about 1bit waveforms on the sega chips I think, and I''ve been quietly pondering the idea ever since... I don't know if I'd bother trying to make a MBHP Core module do the same as this, but I sure as heck like the idea of a Core controlling a few of these chips and some analog circuitry for mixing and filtering and modulation and such.... Obviously if you were going to do that, you wouldn't need the onboard sequencer, but I'm sure that, thanks to the maker for being a total king and sharing the source code, it would be possible to drop the seq and use the extra power to run more 'oscillators' or perhaps drive envelopes/LFOs for the filters or something. I notice that you're familiar with the burnkit site ;) I don't suppose you'd be able to get schematics? Or are they already there and I just missed them?

Ooh nice.... Wanna go halves?
-
;D Fair call!
-
My first thoughts are with the mixing/routing and modulation sections, which obviously would be external to these chips.....

Hey dude welcome aboard! In short: Yes. If you need motorfaders go MBLC, if not, go MB64.

Heya welcome aboard :) If you use the search engines on this forum and also the wiki you'll find most of your questions answered :) Tip for the forum search - There are two searches you can see on this page. One is a text box with a magnifying glass image to it's left, and a grey button labelled 'Search', it's positioned on the right hand margin of the page. One is a hyperlink which says 'SEARCH' in the dark blue menu which is positioned on the left margin of the page. You want the second one. The first one will search just the particular forum area which you are in, in this case it would be midibox.org Forum > Construction > MIDIbox SID The second one will take you to another page which allows advanced search functions, and will search the entire forum :) Cheers!

First the bad bits: Compression is your friend. You don't have to fully master it but I'd highly recommend running a limiter over your stuff before you make it public :) I so hate two-step breaks. Bah. Come on man spend the extra few minutes on your breaks and really show off your tasty new bend! Now the bits I'm not sure if it's good or bad or both: That machine is in perfect condition, look how white it is! Nice! Couldn't you have drilled holes in a crappy beat up old one? ;) Why do benders use RCA's instead of 3.5mm TS jacks or something? Annnd the good bits: That's really nice man! Some great sounds coming out of it! I know squat about the 5-0 but if the amp envelopes could be slower it'd be great for sfx too. I'd like to read about what you've done to it, thanks for sharing :)

doh! Grab the schematics and your LCD's datasheet and make sure you wired it right. When you find the mistake (sorry but I think you will find a mistake, given what you said) then post it here and maybe we can figure out what got fried :-\ Good luck mate!

Not to mention....the filter should work (although not as well) with ceramic caps.... so if it just doesn't work, it's probably a dead SID :(

It's possible, grab your calculator ;)

Sorry mate, a language barrier there... I thought you had moved on with the velocity thing, sorry! The SPDT switches for the velocity stuff are best explained by TK Here

From Australia and wanting a source for some motor faders
stryd_one replied to oberklaus's topic in Parts Questions
Definitely check out switchesplus mate, they're awesome, and local. What's with Midiboxing in Melbourne?! I think there are like 5 of us active on this board, don't think there are so many from any other city :) -
Nice site indeed. What a geek :) Hey TK, is there room in a SID patch to store the feedback parameter if it's done with a digipot?

Another working MBSID :D and some questions...

Hey welcome aboard! I hope you'll share pics of your MB soon :) Brownouts and maybe frying the wall wart Switching is no good but if you search you'll find converters. Just use a c64 PSU it's easier :) Serial regs supposedly introduce noise. That may not be true but it's the widely accepted rumour ;) I think there was talk of a PS2 interface but I haven't seen it :( -
You obviously were too distracted by the video to read the webpage. It's a FM and then a SID later on :) The paypal thing is one for another thread I think, but if you search I think you'll find the question already answered.

Nah you want SPST Momentary ON -aka- Single Pole Normally Open -aka- SPNO -aka- OFF-(ON) -aka- (ON)-OFF -aka- OPEN-(CLOSED) -aka- (CLOSED)-OPEN and if they're toggles you might also use SPDT and then you want (ON)-OFF-(ON) or (ON)-OFF-ON or (ON)-NONE-(ON) or (ON)-NONE-ON or (ON)-NONE-OFF (note they all have a momentary ON throw) Now you all know why I hate using search engines to look for switches ::)

From Australia and wanting a source for some motor faders
stryd_one replied to oberklaus's topic in Parts Questions
Hey man welcome aboard. I haven't used motorfaders but there are a few aussies around who might be able to help. Switchesplus are wicked but I don't know if they stock this kind of thing... They're definitely alps distributors though. I've found that you can often save a bit of money buying from international stores, despite the shipping costing a bomb. If you want to try and save the money, then invest some time in checking the shipping and tax out. Good luck mate :) So where in Oz are you anyway? -
Looks like the reset pins are active high (notice there's no line over the top of the pin name to indicate it's active low) but the datasheet says they're ANDed so you'll want to strobe them both or keep one always high.

lowest cost DIY illuminated button - the challenge continues...

Can you get polypropylene rods in larger diameters? Any idea where to get that kind of thing? I love the cheap risers! -
Sounds like it's really coming along! :)
