Broccoli18 and Bootloader - SUCCESS!!!
moebius replied to Martin_Haverland's topic in Testing/Troubleshooting
OK, maybe that was enough of that: Fx3_hdrive: You probably have read our "advices". I'm (We are(?)) willing to help you, if you have sensible questions to ask. Bye, Moebius p.s as Martin said: This is absolutely true. -
Hi, At least d2k has done this before, read this topic: http://www.midibox.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=mios;action=display;num=1066834196 Bye, Moebius

Broccoli18 and Bootloader - SUCCESS!!!
moebius replied to Martin_Haverland's topic in Testing/Troubleshooting
Hi, Strangely enough, I haven't succeed in starting a flame war yet (this is a friendy forum), but this might be it ;) First of all: Dear Fx3_hdrive, did you check what is the topic of this thread? Is it "yet another failed JDM attempt"?! Or? Then again. Checked the topic - we are talking 'bout broccoli18 here.. If you need information on that, you might be better off searching for it (try "Latest News"), than moaning things like: "I don't have a precision multimeter, how come I can't succeed in building anything that needs voltages to be measured (and that missin' resistor didn't help either)".. Well, anyway, for that I could say: Go BUY ONE! You need one. Try nearest full service gas station. Probably DVM is cheaper than PIC. Yes, actually. It's pretty nice to lay down, relax and use laptop with wireless internet to read the forum and post replys to people with problems, who are WILLING TO HELP THEMSELVES.. That's not my commitment, nor anybody elses on this forum but yours. Reminds me for a song by Def Leppard: "I don't want to make promises I can't keep..." Bye, Moebius -
Hi, Yup.. I think really depends on where it was manufactured/version/batch.. Like I've got a C64c ("New case version") with a 6581 SID soldered to PCB.. I was greatly disappointed, when I opened it. (Well, maybe not the worst 5 euros spent, anyway ;)) Bye, Moebius

Yes, Your cores need unique ID's in PIC ID header.. It defaults to all zeroes for the most common setup, so you might pick 0000000000000001 for the second. Check Bootstrap loader page again, and I think you will figure out what's going on. (And for SmashTV's PIC ID calculator link) You could also use change_id_v1_4.zip application from MIOS download page, and change ID by yourself.. haven't checked that out yet. Bye, Moebius

As I'm trashing some C64/C128 boards, should I take caps with the sid? Bye, Moebius

Nope.. funny you found those.... of course Bye, Moebius

Hi, I guess it's ok. (I'll send you a "new" SID if it dies) Different caps have different characteristics, so just blame the caps, if filter sound wierd.. (or doesn't sound at all).. give me a report. Bye, Moebius

I hope you've got this one working... (everything defaults to that 0000000000000000 ;)) Then in multi-midibox environment, assign different cores to unique IDs using IC-Prog. Then convert MIOS and Applications from HEX to sysex with hex2syx.pl using -device_id [id] for each core. The instructions are in bootstrap page.. Bye, Moebius

Hi, I think it's referring to recycled C64 power switch.. and you can use DPST :) Bye, Moebius

Hi, Sorry for the late reply: I don't think that you have to do any modifications. Just build your box (leaving out dinx), and try. Configuration can be created with vMidibox64. And even banksticks are usable with Sysex / Program change, for different setups. Bye, Moebius

I have tried several different glossy materials: magazine frontpages (only thicker ones), brochure paper, ready printed sample inkjet photopaper ect. I think I'll buy inkjet photopaper, when I find it on special discount. It might leave it's top layer on PCB, but you can rub PCB pretty hard, even with sandpaper, before toner starts to fade :) Bye, Moebius DamDiDam: p.s. Anyone else tried this method on acryl plastic/ metal.. ;D

Hi, I have done this too.. Still haven't found a perfect way: If I put pcb under a cold running water, it's harder to peel paper off.. sometimes I have to scratch it off and there are still small pieces of paper left. Almost all toner is stick to copper. If I just iron it and then peel the paper, paper comes of nicely, with toner left on it, and the figure left on pcb seems sharper (and of course thinner). Bye, Moebius
