  3. I know this problem too good...

thisd weekend i played a live set and gad to lend a laptop there...

same problem, as soon as the power supply was connected, immense noise occured.

I remembered often you get ground loops with analog gear in the studio, and one way (though its a crappy solution) to avoid this noise, is to tape over the ground connectors of the power plug. It also works with the laptop noise I figured out this Weekend ;)

Its not a good / safe solution. but maybe you should look if it works, and if so, maybe you can get a PSU plug without ground connectors for your laptop.

  4. Hello :)

I'm proud to announce our first Vinyl release!

    teaser_cover.jpg

    musikfladen´s first 7-inch-sampler unites four

    electronic supersonic artists on plastic

    more infos and order:

    http://www.monome.de

"The first release of the non-profit-label Musikfladen and Pingipung unites different and chiptunish german artists: A boy and his sid (the popstar), firestarter (the robot), naomi sample & the go go ghosts (the trashpunks) and mister tingle (the beatman). Together they praise their antiquated equipment, using commodore 64, gameboy, vocoder, microkorg, toy-instruments and casiotones. You can hear the example ninja korniace of a boy and his sid which is already released on micromusic.net."

    so long,

  5. hehe,

meanwhile I figured out how to handle midi in C

godda search for the link... if someones interested.

I needed it for my SID Scroller and SID Pong idea which is meanwhile realised ^^

my first SoftSynth is nearly ready as well... Just no idea how to make a GUI so far... but im still learning ;)

    but thanks for the reply!

  6. Hello fellow Midiboxers! (:

Ever needed a break between hours and hours of sound editing but don't know what to do in your studio?

Ever regretted destroying your C64, cause you can't play any games on it anymore?

Here's the solution to your problems!

    I proudly present:

    ---------------------------------------

    MB-SID-PONG Version 1.0  (updated on june 8th)

    ---------------------------------------

A Pong game for the MB-SID LED matrix.

Completely realised with MIDI CCs. No Code change on the PIC neccesary!

Just plug the Midi cables in your sidbox and start the application.

2 players can fight against each other, using the CS of the midibox!

feat. Authentic Pong sounds for the proud owners of a 2 or more SID device.

    http://web7.webfeeling-server.net/SID-PONG.exe

hope it works on other systems and you'll enjoy it!

    so long,

    Julian

PS: You need a MBSID with controll surface and a PC with midi in and out

  7. ah ok... :)

do i just have to press the edit button to activate the edit mode?

i think i just discovered my "edit" button doesnt work... haven't used it before. (the LED should light up when i press edit, shouldn't it? but it only flashes short when i turn on my MBSID... godda check my wiring)

meanwhile I have checked my wires and it puzzles me!

my DMM says all wires are connected as they should... but neither my edit LED is flashing, when there is something changed in a patch (but it lights up short, when i activate my MB), nor can I activate the edit mode or save changes by holding the edit button :(

any ideas whaT could be the rerason for this behaviour?

    best,

    julian

  8. hi...

I'm toying around a little bit with c++

i want to write a little programm for the MBSID

but I've encountered a little problem.

A programm change is no problem... for example, when i send

    0x01C0

my midibox changes to programm  2

but when I want to send a CC my MB doesnt react...

for example when I want to change the Waveform of OSC 1 I send

    0x0221B0

I would expect my MB to change OSC 1 Waveform to SAW, but nothing happends besides a blinking MIDI In LED

did I missunderstood something or wheres my fdailure?

I'm very new to midi programming.

    julian

  9. meanwhile jsynthlib works...  it changed the midi channel of my sid and it worked... don't know why *G*

    I'm allready using

    "JSynthLib-0.20.0_midibox_mod1.jar"

but the "bank select" option in the "get" menu is still not  available (its visible but gray/deactivated)

when my patches are sorted and named correrctly, I'll post 'em to you!

    best,

    julian

  10. hello Y'all!

I've got a problem with my sid and Jsynthlib.

it worked wonderfull with my sid step A

then i've built a 2 sid machine with complete CS step C.

now, after a long time of knob twiddling and not using JSynthLib, I wanted to sort my patches using JsynthLib

but it rejects to work propperly :(

but there are some things not completely clear to me...

what is the "unknown generic device" located in my synth-list? I can't remove it.

does the setting of this unknown generic device affect my SID behaviour?

to wich SID should I adress my sysex request? sid 1 or 2? does it matter?

    Link mode activated or not?

I do get sysex dumps out of my sid... but they are the wrong size. with normal settings (device id 0 channel 1 for example, thats what the values of my sid are)

    i get >500kb per single patch :(

with settings like id 2 and channel 2, wich neither of my sid's got, i get a correct single patch dump,

    but can't request banks.

also the bank select option is always disabled in jsynthlib... is it possible to request a dump from another bank than "A"?

it would be nice if someone could help me!

    best,

    julian

    julian

  12. "At Julian:

Sorry, I didn't want to violate your  copyright license, I have removed it from the server. Since I downloaded this song a time  ago and liked it very much, I wasn't aware of the license at this time."

no problem... you could even leave it on your server if you would just add my name and maybe a link to my page...

i just don't like when my work is made available without credits to the name.

    have a nice day,

    julian

  13. Another point that bothers me!

i found a link on your ebay auction to a track made by me (karawane)

I released it under a creative commons license, that means you are not allowed to offer it to other peoople without mentioning my name and further, you are not allowed to use it in a commercial way

please remove the file from your server! or add a little nothe that it was made by me!

it makes me sad and angry to see you don't respect my work, neither TK's :-p

  14. hi y'all!

anybody of you guys knows a good midi tutorial for C?

I have a great idea for a little MB software tool (no, I won't tell you now ;) but i'm not really familiar with MIDI. normal C programming is no problem.

so I need some Info how to send midi messages with a little C programm...

    best,

    julian
