  1. I found another linear power supply. This one looks nice and its not too expensive. Still above the 100 euro but this one is easier to order in holland.

    http://www.power-one.com/sites/power-one.com/files/lin_6.pdf

    Model HCBB-75W-AG deliveres 5V @ 6A, 12V @ 1.7A and -12V @ 1.7A its also possible to switch the -12V to -5V

    http://nl.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?qs=gCHJnwMCk7Sa%2fhsO6vvSjg%3d%3d

Only thing that bothers me is that the same model is mentioned 3 times in the PDF of power-one. With 3 different outputs :( Not sure if the power supply can be switched to all those different currents.

The power supply looks certainly promising. Can someone confirm this?

  2. Yeah should be linear.

On another hand. I finished the MB6582 tonight still didn''t have the other powersupply so i thought lets do a fast testing with the stock C64 i could not wait. When i started it up everything looks okay so i started trying all the buttons and stuff. When i was trying everything suddenly the MB6582 went black. I disconected the powersupply direcly after that happened.

Could it be that i fryed everything now?

If you fry the ICs can you see that on the outside?

    I''m worried now :(

    Regards

  3. I haven''t decided yet on the powersupply but my build of the MB6582 is almost near the end so it got a bit more priority :D

Found some more nice linear power supplys i think the first one is ideal not sure though:

    http://estaging.alliedelec.com/search/productdetail.aspx?SKU=8000400#tab=Specs

    Outputs -12 VDC @ 0.5a. +5 VDC @ 5A, +12 VDC @ 2.5 A

Or this one its a bit cheaper and but not sure if it deliveres enough on the 12V:

    http://estaging.alliedelec.com/search/productdetail.aspx?SKU=8008071#tab=Specs

    Outputs: -12 VDC @ 0.3 A, +5 VDC @ 3 A, +12 VDC @ 1.2 A

    Regards

  4. @hawkeye: I know they are, but i can't find anything else out there that could work. Best would be a lineaire PSU like the one you build but can't find any on the internet. So only option would be a switching supply i guess. And i should find one with the highest brrzzzztrzts out there to not be able to hear.

@middleman: I think a computer psu will have lots of noise on the audiolines so thats why i decided to look for a pro psu that has very high frequency switching. Hard to find a nice one. especially here in holland.

    Edit:

OMG i just found a supplier for lineair PSU that possible could work:

    http://www.emersonindustrial.com/en-us/egselectricalgroup/products/Control-Power-Solutions/Power-Supplies/SL-Single-Multi-Output-Linears/Pages/default.aspx

    Possible candidates:

    SLD-12-6034-05T --> Output1: 5V @ 6A output2: 12V @ 3.4A

    SLT 12-61818-12T1 --> Output1: 5V @ 6A output2: 12V @ 1.8A output3: -12V @ 1.8A

  5. Okay i found a nice site:

    http://www.sunpower-uk.com

This site has loads of different power supply's too bad no price and no option to add to basket. But you can request a quote.

I checked some specs, i listed a few of them that has I think the correct specs:

SPP-D043 - 30-45W Dual Output Open Frame Power Supply

    http://www.sunpower-uk.com/product/30-45W-Dual-Output-Open-Frame-Power-Supply/SPP-D043/default.htm

PD-45A - 40W Dual Output Open Frame Switching Power Supply

    http://www.sunpower-uk.com/product/40W-Dual-Output-Open-Frame-Switching-Power-Supply/PD-45A/default.htm

    SNP-YL63 - 57W 5V & 12V Dual Output Open Framed Power Supply

    http://www.sunpower-uk.com/product/57W-5V-and-12V-Dual-Output-Open-Framed-Power-Supply/SNP-YL63/default.htm

RPD-60A - 49W Dual Output Open Frame Medical PSU

    http://www.sunpower-uk.com/product/49W-Dual-Output-Open-Frame-Medical-PSU/RPD-60A/default.htm

    SPS-G050-ID1 - 51W Isolated 5V & 12V Output Enclosed Power Supply

    http://www.sunpower-uk.com/product/51W-Isolated-5V-and-12V-Output-Enclosed-Power-Supply/SPS-G050-ID1/default.htm

I don't have a clue if any of these will work on a mb6582 with 8x sid 6582 in it. Maybe someone could give feedback on this. And especially what specs are important for a power supply for a music instrument.

  6. i understand youre concern. Thats why it should be a safe build. I'm digging into internet to see if there is maybe somewhere on this globe a nice replacement option. Will post the findings in this topic, if i can find any. I noticed the power suplly nothern descriped is hard to get especially in holland.

  7. so if i read this correct. I could use the standard RPT-60B to power my mb6582a instead of the original c64 psu. I only need to get a nice case for it and do some cabeling to it to connect to my mb658. I wonder if the RPT-60B fits inside the original case of the c64 psu.

    regards

    Groetjes
