shopping, thinking about spare parts
carsten_the_dane replied to carsten_the_dane's topic in MIDIbox SID
I was thinking more like: what parts is there a risk of me overheating while soldering. -
Damn german... and i even lived in hamburg for some time. Could someone please help me translate the following into german: (or point me to specific products at reichelt.de) a rotary encoder (datawheel, endless pot) A detented encoder is recommented for precise data entry rotary encoders. (non-detended) This is all stuff i wanted to buy at my local store. But since reichelt says i have to buy for atleast 150 euros, i see myself forced to buy them at there shop. Thanks /carsten [EDIT]: I have found these "optischer Drehencoder ohne Rastung", but they cost 8,35 euro. Im guessing "Datawheel "must be "Datenrad" or something right ?

Hi So im getting ready to do some reichelt shopping now. Could you tell which parts it might be a good idea to buy some spare parts off. Which parts are very sensitive to heat and stuff? I have a sub question i might as well ask now: I have 3 SID chips, but im planning to make a 4 SID synth. Can i build it as such, and just leave the last socket empty for now? /Carsten

Here i am again ;D Altitude, do you think you have the pdf of the midi in/out led :-X
-
hmm. whats the difference between a jigsaw and a handheld scroll saw? Could you link to an image of a handheld scroll saw - translating names of tools is not my strong point :-\
-
Allright. A hacksaw it is. Thanks

Hi Just a small question here: I have bought some plates of PCBs, but since they are bigger than any of the PCBs needed for the sid project, i just want to make sure i can cut the plates with a jigsaw without ripping of the cobber? Thanks Carsten
-
Once again Thanks. I was thinking, since in time i am planning to build both the the sequencer and the FM synth too, i might as well make the PCBs needed for them when i am allready going to make the once for the SID. So if any one has the following PCBs as PDF, they would be much appreciated: MBHP_OPL3 mbseq_din_v2 mbseq_dout_v2 mbseq_din_vintage mbseq_dout_vintage I havent really been checking out the seq and fm projects, and im sure it will take me a long time to create the SID. But i believe the above mentioned PCB are the only once needed for those projects apart from what i allready have links to in this post. /Carsten PS: if anyone would like to talk me out of creating the PCBs for the other projects at this moment in time, please tell me so. Personally i cant really see why i shouldnt just create them now, while allready working with PCBs, and put them away for some time - but there might be some reason that i dont know of. Thanks.
-
say... if you had the other PCBs for the midibox sid laying around. I wouldnt mind you posting them ::) I know i said i wanted to learn eagle, but its just so much easier to ask. Carsten

Thanks. I just saw the burner today. Cool, im ready to go :D [EDIT]: you might wanna fix the link for the burner, it points to the sid, but i just copied the text-link.

I have completly overlooked an old answer from for one of my questions. Can this thing run on a 9volt battery: http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=5691.0 Carsten

direct search on rad 2.220/16 and rad 2.220/25 still doesnt give an exact match.

Hi I have been plugin in all the needed components for fully featured 4-sidmidibox sid at Reichelt (incl. pic burner). http://www.reichelt.de/inhalt.html?SID=20%408kz8qwQARQAADlH8L805602a31561e64b09ba90fdc33027976;ACTION=48;LASTACTION=5;SORT=artikel.artnr;GRUPPE=P65;WG=0;SUCHE=CLIP%209V;ARTIKEL=CLIP%209V;END=16;STATIC=0;FC=667;PROVID=0;TITEL=0 Direct link to Warenkorb: http://www.reichelt.de/inhalt.html?SID=20%408kz8qwQARQAADlH8L805602a31561e64b09ba90fdc33027976;ACTION=5;LASTACTION=4;SORT=user_artikel2.id;WG=0;SUCHE=1%2F4W%201%2C0k;START=0;END=16;STATIC=0;FC=666;PROVID=0;TITEL=0 Can you see the above links, or are they bound to cookies on my local machine? There was 3 components i could not find. It was: Resistor 1 kOhm | 8 | 1/4W 1k | 0.03 | 0.06 | Polarised Capacitor 2200 uF/25V(!) | 4 | rad 2200/25 | 0.35 | 0.35 | Polarised Capacitor 2200 uF | 4 | rad 2200/16 | 0.26 | 0.26 Can i use other components instead of these 3? Would someoneplease check if reichelt has these components under some different name. If anyone with a lot of time on there hand could just take a quick look on my link, to see if there is something very obvious wrong with it..... I can easily understand if no one will, im almost ashamed to ask. Thank you /Carsten

That would be so nice. I hope so... Carsten

Hi I have searched hi and low for this. I am sure i have seen it somewhere around here month ago. Somewhere there must be PDFs of all the PCB modules available for download, so that i wont have to use eagle or anything. I have tried going from the eagle .brd file to pdf myself, but it keeps looking strange. I have been explained in details how to use eagle, but apparently i must pretty thick :-\ Can anyone point me to printable PDFs (or other format) just right for printing? Carsten

Hey Thanks for the answer. I´m sure the topic has been explained before. I tried searching the forum without luck. Anyway, your reply was great help, but had me confused about one thing: Isnt the board, as i print it in pdf from eagle, the correct size, should i make it bigger? -

Outline ULP: This seems to just invert the image. Looks strange to me. Device: script or HPGL? Width:? Changed my pdf. it now shows bottom, pads and holes... Anything ells needed? I havent uploaded it, because it looks wrong with the outline script. Thanks for your help. I gotta go to work now, so i cant reply untill tomorrow. Carsten -
[eagle help] how do i get rid of light blue edge
carsten_the_dane replied to carsten_the_dane's topic in MIDIbox SID
Oh right. well im new to this, i just found it strange - i thought it was there to mark up how large the board was. In this case its the midibox core board. So i guess if its the ground, im good to go with this pdf: www.carstenhoyer.dk/mbhp_core_v3.pdf Carsten mbhp_core_v3.pdf mbhp_core_v3.pdf -
Hi I have almost figured out how to just print the dark blue lines (the cobber), but i still cannot get rid of the light blue square all around the pcb. Is it possible to remove it directly in eagle, or do i need a photoeditor to do it (photoshop/gimp)? Carsten
-
right ;) Thanks Carsten

Thats what i mean. I have 1 6510 and 2 8580 (maybe even 8581, i havent opened my newest c64, but its not the breadbox). So how do i make sure the get different volts. Thats what i mean, will i need to supply to different power supplies, or is it all taken care of in the design. How do i make sure that the 6510 gets 12v and 8580 gets 9v. Sorry if its a stupid question, im a complete beginner when it comes to electronics. Carsten

Hi I have found 3 c64 now, hoping to find another one soon. My question is: Since the chips in the 3 c64s are different numbers, do i really need to use 2 power supplys for the midisid? I read somewhere that the old and the newer sid-chips uses different voltages. Thanks Carsten

Hi First, just wanna say i have searched the forum for this topic, no luck (maybe you can do better :)) Ok, i have just bought 2 old C=64 and now i wanna build a synth and a seq. heres a few question (might as well put them together). 1. more like a request: I have a hard time figuring out what these machines really can do. It seems to me that the sound examples have been "fatted up" with logic or reaktor or something. It would be nice with some examples that says: 1-SID midibox and sequencer or something equal without anything else added. 2. should i build a midibox or FM - i want to use it mainly for a fat bassline and drums. (hmm, not sure you can answer this, but perhaps, you could give me your opinion) hmmm, i had some more, but cant remember them, right now #1 seems must important to me Carsten
