  2. Thats the C128 and amiga PSU, right? Isnt the wiring different on this one. Check out this link: http://www.vintage-computer.com/vcforum/showthread.php?t=896 /carsten
  3. Lets say I have made the keyboard matrix, as i have linked to above. Taking the picture below, would it be possible to just wire the matrix to the DIN module? And then i guess I would have to do some programming in MIOS? Ok, considering that i basically dont know what im doing, im doing a pretty good job at making this sound simple ;D /carsten
  4. Yeah, thats probably the easiest way. but if you want the keyboard to be small, it gets expensive. So im guessing the matrix kind of way is better for size and wallet.
  5. Oh, the DIN - well i´ll be damned. Here is a link to something: http://www.headfuzz.co.uk/?q=midihack Havent read it yet though, but it looks like something of interest /carsten
  6. Hi I have seen examples of MidiBox SIDs in the "MidiBox of the week" forum that had an added keyboard. I like the feature, like this: http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=6553.0 http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=7709.0 I think it would be pretty nice to have a SID with a keyboard like the little one on the microKORG. I guess i would have to use a toy piano somehow. And i figure its possible to make, based on the midiboxes i see in this forum. But i havent been able to find a walkthrough/tutorial on this subject. Is it difficult, how would i go about it? Since those toy keyboards are probably just on/off keys, i guess i would somehow have to connect it to a AIN module? /carsten
  7. PS: how do i do it? Is it some line in the uploaded program im supposed to change?
  8. Have you read my thread?: http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=7631.0 As i said, i had kinda the same problem. And have you opened up to check for the fuses on the backside of the c64 psu, next to the power button (atleast on the cpu i have, look at the picture, i have the one on the left). /carsten (and to Toneburst bursting in (ho ho), i have seen a thread somewhere on the forum where a guy had 2 different psu build in to his machine. New and quite small units. i just cannot find it again)
  9. if it is a c64 psu, and thats what i read from your first post, you will get some power from the psu even though one fuse is blown. ([edit]: oh, wilba said that just above) On the backside of the psu there are 2 black circles. Open them and check the fuses. I had that problem last week. check out my earlier posts. /carsten
  10. Perhaps the fuses are blown ???
  11. Ok. I can see that that midi connection diagram couldnt do much good to you. I hope you dont feel i was talking down to you. After all, it was a problem i had myself. Anyway. About the midi loop test. Its really easy. You just have to take a midi cable and plug it in between your input and output on the usb device... Or is it something else that is causing you problems here? /carsten
  12. Thats probably it. i have given all cores different ID numbers, but i have not been fiddling with any channel numbers. Thanks /Carsten
  13. This was one of the things i had problems with, that also caused strange midi messages. Wirering the mid inputs. The image is showing the core and the 2 midi - the midi inputs are laying on the ground to the right of the core, with the female connections down towards the ground. Then you just drag the wires over. Like shown ( :-\) kinda. Are you using a USB audio device.? /carsten PS: you could install linux ubuntu. Wouldnt that make it possible to do that loop test (or whatever its called) that you cant do on mac.
  14. Hey Toneburst. As you have probably seen, i have been flooding the forum with questions lately. So my advice will probably not be worth much. BUT, i have had problems with midi in the last couple of days, and i have also had problems with misbehaving LCD. So here goes: Have you tried: mbsid_interconnection_test_b.zip and lcd_interconnection_test_v1.zip Many of my problems with midi has come from stupid short cuts, not just on the core module. Also from other modules, and those pins you put on the SIL headers touching each other (mine are not in any kind of plastic wrapping, yet). So check also for shorts on other modules. I think that the fact that you keep getting unexpected upload request could indicate that MIOS was restarting all the time, perhaps because of some problem with power. Again, i dont really know what im doing. So i might be far off cheers /carsten
  15. Hi. Things are really going great here. Im gonna be playing my midibox all night. Im amazed how sweet sounds that little chip can create. You are a genius TK. I do have a problem though. When i push the buttons to switch among my SIDs (2 interconnected right now), the LEDs switch, but the chip doesnt. If i use LINK, they will both play. Why is this happening. I mean, the Link button recognize the slave core, and the SID button functions with the LEDs, so what could be happening? Im gonna be off the project for a week, so i have to get back to my midibox, RIGHT NOW ;D /Carsten
  16. By connecting the DOUT module, i managed to figure out which SIL headers lead to the LINK. ;D
  17. Ok. it appears to be working now. The reason i was asking about the caps under the dinx4, was that mine looked different from TKs image at the din page. (not the caps, but the setup), but they are connected from 16 - to very close to 8 on the sockets of the 74HC165. I have turned the buttons around, and it seems to work. No fuses blown today yet. still havent managed to find the LINK button.
  18. dammit, i was hoping i could just edit it. Now i have to stand out as a moron for ever. :D
  19. Ok. I thought when i used the "beep" function on my multimeter, those to ends would make for a button. But i have to turn my buttons 45 degrees, right? This would not explain the blowing fuses, would it? Thanks for answering Carsten
  20. Hi, yesterday 3 fuses in the c64 PSU died :'( I think the problem is somehow related to the dinx4 module, which i was trying to install at that moment. Im not exactly sure this is what happened, but: i tried pushing buttons, but it didnt seem to have any effect. i would turn the psu on and off quite often, because i didnt want to solder when the power was on. Suddenly the sound was very low, and the fuse was blown. Maybe it was because i turned the psu on/off to much, maybe there is something wrong with my dinx4. Anyway, i have some questions: 1. check out the picture of the caps. Are they really placed right? 2. do i make the button connection right. 3. on a dinx4, where is the link button placed? (sorry i allready asked this question, in a much more confused thread) All i have been able to find is this dinx2 picture, so i just figured the link button would be placed the same place as on the dinx2. But since there was no connection, perhaps im wrong. 4. About the blown fuses. could this be caused by the dinx4, or should i look for other problems. 5. is the fuses in the c64 psu split up, so that the one to the right is 9V AC, or are they just connected in series. It is always the right fuse that dies. Thanks /Carsten
  21. Sometimes it can be really difficult to find information on ucapps. But i think i have found it here: http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_sid_cs/2x20_enc_multi.pdf
  22. Thats it for tonite. I had some problems. I want to link up the master/slaves. But i cannot figure out how to connect the link button. 1. First of all. How can i be sure that my dinx4 is working? 2. Is the Link button pin#3 of J4?
  23. ok. just ordered from smashTV. lets make a battle one day ;)
  24. Question #1: RTFM Carsten :-X ok /carsten
  25. Hey. Thinks are really moving forward here in copenhagen. I have 1 core and sid up and working. i have my LCD up. But still, i have a few questions: 1. when i have mutiple core/sid modules in series and i play the piano i MIOS, shouldnt all sids be playing. Or am i supposed to somehow address the different cores individually? I have created new IDs for the slaves. 1 and 2. and for both i have uploaded MIOS and Midibox SID default file (or whatever its called). 2. One core would really false, and sometimes even random tones. Now i cannot get sound from it. Could the reason be an overheated crystal? It was this thread that kinda gave me that thought: http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=5330.0 /Carsten
