  1. Can anybody tell me what's so bad about IRC? I'm already in several IRC channels and adding just another channel would be easier for me than running a separate chat thingie. I know IRC isn't perfect but it works and there are several clients out there so at least you can choose the one you like best.
  2. The Jazzmutant Lemur http://www.jazzmutant.com/lemur_overview.php is a very cool sequencer. It's also in the offensive amount of money pricerange though.
  3. But using a specialised tool is almost like cheating :P. Actually I knew about chip-pullers but it never occurred to me that they're cheap and easily available ::) (I put one on my shopping list now).
  4. Put a small flathead screwdriver under one of the short edges of the chip and lift it just a millimeter or so. Do the same thing from the other side. Keep slightly lifting each side until the chip is out of the socket. At least that's how I usually remove DIP packaged chips from sockets. Just be careful and you'll be OK. Slightly bent legs can usually just be bent back without any problems (just in case you're a bit heavy handed with the screwdriver).
  5. Wow, using the monome keypad in an midibox is an awesome idea. Yet another idea to add to my "to steal" list ;D. Just lurking in these forums is really inspirational. Just you wait, in ten years time I will build the greatest MB SID ever ;).
  6. OK, found the blog (and read it too). This JB-weld looks like interesting stuff. Personally I was toying with the idea of having something threaded welded to the back of the front panel but I have some serious doubts whether that'd actually work (you'd have to use the same metals, it mustn't show on the front side, I don't know jack about welding, ...). This seems like a much easier solution.
  7. Hey Wilba, very nicely done indeed. How did you attach the CS PCB to the CS? I can see the screws on the PCB side but I don't see any screws poking through the CS :P. So what did you screw them into?
  8. I'd like one base PCB if I'm not too late, that is.
