  1. mmh I think there is not such a great difference as you can see in the gif it is like 16 switches organised as 8 pairs but one of each pair opens and the other closes when active. Best regards clem!
  2. hi, after studying qbas´ sm_16x16_vel, it seems to be easier without the fatar-electronic and to connect a core with an adapted-scan-matrix to the keyboard, because inverting of the signal in the software is less time sensitive :D than doing it in hardware (finding right inverters, adding 5V to the scan-pcb etc.). Did you had a look at the sourcecode? I´m not sure where to change it for an 8 by 8 matrix and where to insert the inverting for the Rueteilsammelschiene/sleepingpartbar. lucem, can you help? maybe this can help, too: http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,11971.0.html Best regards clem!
  3. hi, at [eeh]bay.de auction no. 290331602176 (at the moment still active), if you are good on an oriental bazar you can get them eventuelly for a lower price. I think the detent is normal. EDIT/ meanwhile I have undetented all the encoders for the sid if you are very sensible, it is possible to halfundetent them ;) /EDIT Good luck clem!

  5. Hi all, I´ve found some nice encoders with 24 detents for 0,9 EUR (think they are not so bad) on my way to undetent them I´ve made some makro-shots of them. Best regards clem!

  8. Ok I´m not a guru but I´ll try to answer like a special one :) What do you understand by control? - maybe it helps to read at ucapps.de "AOUT" can be a starting point. Theoretically this could be possible but does your synth support it? Do you have the specs of the protocol? Are you able to programm it? yes polyphony is possible that sounds very tricky, because for that you had to input the output signal of your synth into the midibox.Best regards clem!
  9. upps - thought because of the parallelity of the wires that there must be more than one pair of Ruhesammelschiene=Sleepingbar? 8) und Arbeitssammelschiene=Workingbar? 8) This is the way it works in Boehm-analog-organs from the seventies: KEY DOWN || || 1st bar O \/ 2nd bar O || 1 BRASS TONGUE to frequency divider 1 3rd bar O \/ 4th bar O || 2 BRASS TONGUE to frequency divider 2 5th bar O \/ 6th bar O 3 BRASS TONGUE to frequency divider 3 etc Best regards
  10. I´ve deleted the posts because my statement that the fatar electronic "definitifly doesn´t work" wasn´t correct - it had partially to do with the order of the contacts at the micromatch adapter. I must wait for the inverters from farnell before I can say more. I need some other parts from them too for din and dout modules for my sid and for the connection of the keyboard-scan-matrix. I will do the order at the weekend. But I think if you don´t have 88 keys instead 37 or 49 it won´t be a problem to code a delay into the core´s fimware that will solve this problem and doesn´t touch the playability. As I see in the pictures of your keyboard you have more than one pair of "Sammelschienen" so if you don´t have to build them up it could be simpler to work with close/close double contacts. But the fixing of the diodes on a breadboard and/or the "freeairwiring" could bring you some "funny problems". Best regards clem!
  11. I´ve started a new attempt with this circuit --> http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,12966.msg117521.html#msg117521 and the fatar electronic - the result is: it scans the notes without velocity - eventually the switching time of the inverter 12ns I used is to slow I need a 74AHC14 (3,2 ns) or a faster one. Best regards
  12. I´m still in the process of doing that. But since there are some other projects to manage - this one had to wait. My MB-Sid should get a 37 key-keyboard and a pitch and modulation wheel. And some more controls because it´s a little bit underdressed ;) This is the material I want to work with for the keyboard: A Dr Boehm three-octave keyboard (have shortened a 49 keyboard by 12 keys-coz they were partly broken). A Fatar pitch and modulation wheel. A MB-core with 18F452 Yesterday I´ve started some attempts to run the shortened octave with a fatar electronic without velocity. But I need to change my circuit first and have to add an inverter to the diode-matrix. Because my veroboardselfbuildpcb has open and close contacts for make and break instead of close and close ones like an original fatar keyboard. Ok- I could also use the fatar electronic - but than I wouldn´t learn anything! I will only use it to get the compatibility to modern matrix keyboards. Let the fun begin clem!

  14. hi questionable, if you didn`t see any text only blocks and the upload request is send - it could eventually help to change the contrast of the lcd. Best reegards clem!
  15. the sid-board works again after changing the electrolytic capacitator (sorry for the unenglish spelling - elko - when I wrote it I didn´t realized that it´s a German expression). I´ve changed them from both SIDs eventually those 2200µF 16V ELKOs elcaps I had in the kit aren´t the best choice. Best regards clem!
  16. Hi there, some bad news from my MB. Now it smells a little bit strong - and it doesn´t come from the pots ;) - coz one elko from the sidboards lifts up - hope the sid wasn´t hurt  >:( Who´s got experience with s.t. like that? Do I need to exchange more than the elkos. I´m no electronic engineer. Best regards clem! it´s a 16V one!!!
  17. In some building centres you don´t need to pay for wooden rests - you find them in the grabberbox. :D But my sid has an achilles´ heel - the two wallmount PSUs make problems to upload a firmware because of the power consumption - I allways had to pull the 4x20 lcd. Now I switched of the light. :-[ In the final version with knobs I will use a stabilized PSU of an external harddrive I think - this will be more stable. Best regards clem!
  18. Thanks for the replies it´s a kOrg 707, it was my first midificated-synth and costs me 800 DM has some great FM sounds - I like the brassy ones - very special! don´t know it´s out of an ADD-two, twenty years old - maybe it is Densitron or s.t. like that, thank you very much for your great work TK. The case is selfmade - out of 1 mm aluminium-panel-sheet (I think 1,5 mm would be better, maybe next time). PCBs are fom Mike. of course, in this case they are a little bit to slim, but I will change that with the full control panel. The SID sounds better than I thought - never had a C64 by myself, I started with an Atari ST 1040. Now I will test the Bankstick ;-) Best regards and thanks for the great work here clem!
  19. Hi all, I´ve had my hands on 3 SIDS 6581R4AR, so I had no choice but to built  my first MB-SID. Bankstick, encoders etc. may perhaps come later. Here are some pics: Best regards clem!
  20. Hi all, Mike anwered my mail and verified my speculations. Best regards clem!
  21. Ok - I´ve measured them: those with the F are 1nF, the others are out of range of the multimeter in our studio --> means eventually 470pF. Think I must make friend to the thought of wearing glasses above 50. @nILS the smaller ones are the 1nF and not reverse ;) Best regards clem!
  22. Hi and thanks for this great article, but this confuses me more. the caps are from a sid kit 470pF and 1nF are both possible I think. Does the "F" at the second tell me it´s 1nF ??? clem!
  23. hi all, what are the values of these caps? can someone help plz Best regards clem!
