My laptop is getting rather tired. Even flash heavy websites cause the fan to do a good impression of a jet engine.

Lots of tosty resistors and the remains of a tantalum in the PSU. More than just a recap...

Recap for now, maybe a modern switcher later on. I think I'll also replace the tantalums on the analogue board.

It has the RS422 upgrade, so I'm after a vintage Mac now....

Added a buffer board for DINSYNC and part of the LCD module for pretty lights.... Trying to work out why only half of said lights work.

Tell me about it. What I want and what I can afford are two different things. I have had a busy couple of months buying and building, but will have to give it a rest.... With the possible exception of having GAS for a Prophet 2000.

  20. just hates customs, i mean, just a simple SEQ CS PCB it could slip through, once? Its not about the money, but about having to appear in person and wait for an hour to pay a few euros of fee after a 30km drive - one small customz bureau visit can ruin your whole day...

The UK is the same - it goes to the post office. The only problem is that this sometimes takes a few days, sometimes several weeks.

I am lucky in that I live about a 5 minute walk from the delivery office/collection point - and getting a customs slip in the post still makes me rant!
