DJ Trago
ok, id just like to thanks everyone who has helped me will all the issues iv had, youve all been great and now iv finaly got somthing to show for it :):):)big smilles all round...but i got, as expected, a few rather odd problems...1. when i play my SID it works fine, no problems, but when i sequence it in ableton (using midi from an m-audio fasttrack pro), randomley after a few bars a realy loud note will stick on and the only way to stop it is to reset my SID which is realy quite anoying2. when i uploaded all the basic patches on to my bank stick i only have every other one, the others are empty?!?!eg. 001 lead002 techno pwm003 empty004 techno 5th005 empty....and so on..these problems are in my mind quite odd and iv had a look and found nothing notably writen by any one elce on them, any ideas ???cheersalex

Wilba
The bankstick upload problem is probably because you're uploading the .syx file and not delaying enough between each SysEx message.Try using MIDI-OX and changing the delay to 750 milliseconds. clem!
hi,I´m not a specialist but but I have some ideas:randomley after a few bars a realy loud note will stick ondid you change the code?is it like a midi on? is it always the same note? - try to log the midi stream and separate the event(s)i only have every other one, the others are emptysounds as if there is a problem with the adressbus - perhaps it helps to press the ICs into sockets or to resolder some pins.Good luck
Wilba
sounds as if there is a problem with the adressbus - perhaps it helps to press the ICs into sockets or to resolder some pins. There is no address bus - patches are stored on 24LC512 serial eeprom. The fact that some are stored and others are not suggest the firmware is ignoring every 2nd one probably because it's too busy storing a patch. Set midiox to a lower chunk size and raise the delay, repeat until it works.
DJ Trago
WOW!!! cheers for the super fast replys, im at school at the mo but i will try as soon as i get home :Dsound good tho, i did notice when i uploaded the bank, it compleated surprisingley fast.in answer to your questions,my bankstick is a 24LC512and the MIDI issue is realy confusing as when i play my SID with my keyboard it works fine, switching between patches and tweeking all ok but when is sequenced it just seems to realy do somthing diffrent, iv had a little experment with diffrent sequecing styles, when the note is held i can play other notes over the top but when there is no note being payed a spesific, and normaly very high freq note is present, this note can be changed by changing the patch but the only way of stoping it is by reseting my SID ??? :-[ ??? fussylizard
Glad I read this thread since I probably would have had the same problem w/ the upload in a day or two. :-)Weird w/ the sequencing issue. I would attack this by trying to get as simple a test case as possible that is reproducible (i.e. the simplest sequenced clip that gets it to fail repeatedly), then try to duplicate it by playing the same sequence yourself. Then you can look at the MIDI messages w/ MIDI-OX or something to figure out what's different assuming it works fine when you play it manually. So does it happen with all sequenced patterns (i.e. try a pattern w/ a single quarter note each bar and another pattern with 16th notes each bar), or does it depend on how fast the notes are played, etc.? DJ Trago
all is coolio with the patch probs, i tryed using MIDI-OX again and played about with the buffers but to no avail so instead i downloaded the patch editor made by Rutgur and just uploaded the banks through that! which worked perfectly and i can edit them all aswell!too fuzzylizard - i recomend using a combination of MIOS studio and Rutgurs patch editor if you have any problems as they both worked without a hitch, realy smooth programing!the sequencing issues are very confusing still iv had a realy frustrating play but not got any where, but i am going to do a weeks work experence with ESM (manufacture of the synthi and longest established synthesizer manufacture in the world! 8) ) next week so im going to get some good questions in there and hopefully get some good answers too!
