Futureman Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Has anyone tried one of these? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/3-Terminal-5V-1A-Switching-Voltage-Regulator-Power-Supp-/390106044649?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0 With my new sequencer using VFD's and plenty of backlighting, my 5v regulator gets rather hot, and will need a heatsink the size of a small country. I was thinking of something like this instead. Any ideas?
Shuriken Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 (edited) They are using a LM2575-5. I assume you can quite easily make it yourself. I haven't tried one myself. But switching psu are much more efficient then liniar ones. So if you are not using a MB wich has analog audio, its ok to use a switching psu. Edited August 27, 2010 by Shuriken
Altitude Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 (edited) interesting. I have had my eye one these for a while: http://www.dimensionengineering.com/DE-SW050.htm but that definitely trumps it on price. Would be nice for my MB808 which has to burn off 10V on the 7805 Edited August 29, 2010 by Altitude
