schoko Posted September 11, 2003 Report Share Posted September 11, 2003 After finishing the module i want to try it out, but nothing happen....It should be workin as standalone....Then i tried to search the error, i measured the supply voltageon the AN2131SC, the eeprom, all other ics have power everything fine...I also checked the diodes (all 3) seems fine too...Midi in reacts when a midi device is plugged in( the midi in leds are blinking)Can anyone help plz? If not, there must be a bad junction between the USB pins of the cypress chip and the socket. Check also the crystal and the reset inputs.Best Regards, Thorsten. Posted September 15, 2003 Report Share Posted September 15, 2003 Unfortunately the crystal can only be checked with a scope...the frequency is too high to get a meaningful value on a common multimeter.Reset: it sends a short +3.3V pulse during power-on and should be low (0V) thereafter.Did you every use a USB device with your PC? On some mainboards not all USB plugs are enabled by default, maybe you only have to change this in your BIOS setup.Best Regards, Thorsten. schoko Posted September 15, 2003 Author Report Share Posted September 15, 2003 thx for your quick reply...i have enabled the usb ports in the bios..it was the first thing i did...I guess the short 3,3v impuls on the reset button cant also be measured by a multimeter...but i think i measured a voltage of 3,3v all the time, notsure have to check it again...if thats the case (always 3,3) what to do?is this then caused by bad soldering? The USB chip is permanently in reset state and therefore doesn't start.Just take a look into the schematic http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_usb.pdf for the supply voltages of the cap and the resistor. Note: If the resistor or the cap isn't tied to Vss/Vdd, possibly also other components are affected. Just follow the Vss/Vdd tracks with your multimeter to find the bad junctions.Best Regards, Thorsten.Addendum: the AN2131SC has a high-active reset, the PIC a low-active reset. schoko Posted September 16, 2003 Author Report Share Posted September 16, 2003 Still doesnt work...i measured 3.3v (Vcc - reset) and 10 kOhm reset to Vssall the time....the function should be a short impuls...the wiring is ok... i checked out everything, means theonly thing i finaly could do now is checking a new crystalor measuring it with a scope.......(badly that i can hardly check that out)Cond. Posted September 17, 2003 Report Share Posted September 17, 2003 You could unsolder the resistor and capacitor and test them as RC circuit (+3.3V -> C -> R -> ground) just to ensure that they are not damaged (but the probability that you have fried them is very low). The voltage between C and R must be 0V after < 1 second (you won't regognize the pulse...)If these parts are ok, the only reason why you see 3.3V would be that you've soldered the USB chip in the wrong direction...Best Regards, Thorsten. I don't mean the driver in the mbhp_usb\ subdirectory (here you should use v1.1), but the wintendo driver for EZ-USB under ez-usb\driver\Best Regards, Thorsten. I ran into the same problem: Win XP does not accept that EZ USB driver and so the EZ Control Panel does not recognize the chip. I'll try too burn it under Win2000. Better said: It is recognized&installed, but the driver does not work (Win does not install it - something missing?).So the EZ Manager does not get connection to the device.I dont think that I soldered anything wrong (I also have experiences with SMD soldering). All LEDs are coming up normal, the USB conn works fine and so on. I do think its a software prob as stated above.As I dont have access to a Win98 PC to burn the EEPROM, what can I do?btw: Isnt that funny? That thing can only be programmed under Win98 (or others), but wont run on that OS. This means, that you will be able to burn the MBHP_USB firmware via a MIOS core. pay_c Posted December 8, 2003 Report Share Posted December 8, 2003 At laaaast: It´s working. :)I had to install the drivers on an old Win98 Comp (the WinXP one always had probs with the driver "Deinstallation routine incorrect" or similar). But: Then it didn´t work there (no idea why). Back on the WinXP comp and voila: It worked.So: I had to install the firmware on Win 98 to get it running on WinXP.
