Steven_C Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 The Logic control manual says that a whole midiport is required for each Logic Control, or Contrl XT.Is this the case for our clones? or can the midibox link be used to put two LC's on one midiport? Or is there another way?BTW, this is not so urgent, I still have to build my second LC! Quote
Steven_C Posted February 13, 2004 Author Report Posted February 13, 2004 Well the reason I asked that /\ question was because I'm running out of midi ports. So it will either be Midibox link, or connecting one of the LC's via the midibox to com method.Anyone got any hints before I embark on this? I've read the pages on LTC, and MB to COM, and as far as I can tell, it is just a matter of removing the 6N138, and connecting a MAX232, between the PIC, and the COM port, and installing one of the serial port drivers into windows? (no real need to make the LTC PCB?)Thorsten, let someone else answer this, this time ;)thanks, from Steve :) Quote
TK. Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 Thorsten, let someone else answer this, this timeAlright ;-)Best Regards, Thorsten.P.S.: Hint - no, it doesn't work due to the limitations of the LC protocol Quote
Steven_C Posted February 15, 2004 Author Report Posted February 15, 2004 thanks for that 'Hint', Thorsten ;) I thought that may be the case. Quote
d2k Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 Hey Steveas far as I can tell, it is just a matter of removing the 6N138, and connecting a MAX232, between the PIC, and the COM port, and installing one of the serial port drivers into windows? (no real need to make the LTC PCB?)Yup, u could breadbrd the max232 chip between the pic and com port or just use a LTC and leave out the HC00's. However, I've tried the to-com option on my LC (which has 3 cores chained) and I cudnt get logic to behave proper with it :(BestDan Quote
Steven_C Posted February 16, 2004 Author Report Posted February 16, 2004 Dan, thanks for that reply! and thank-you for saving me from spending time trying to get that to work! So you have 16 channels and one master fader? (re: 3 cores)...SteveI wonder if you could create a midi to com interface, by connecting the Max232 to the midimerger project? Quote
MrMusicman Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Hey Steven_CIf you look at the MIDI information send by a mackic controler or XT, you will see that the fader aresend as Pitchbend on ch. 1 to 9, so each controler need a midi port at your pc and in the sequencer software.A MIDI merge will not work, sorry.Kent Quote
