Forum temporary down

The MIDIbox forum is currently down due to technical problems. The new provider complained, that webpages and files are accessed via the preview URL, and not via a proper midibox.org DNS entry (midibox.org still points to the old server). This steals so much bandwidth, that he was forced to suspend the access.

The error message "Bandwidth Limit Exceeded" could be missleading! Thanks to the people who already offered me alternative hosting possibilities, but it's really not worth the effort to move the domain again. In the last seven months we've seen that the new server runs very fast and stable, so - let us stay by this one and wait until the DNS entries have been changed.

Currently it's not predictable when the server will be accessible again. If it takes more than one week, I will announce a link to a temporary forum at this page.

Best Regards, TK

Twin-X made a special arrangement with his provider, so that we can temporary use the "preview URL" until the DNS entries of midibox.org are changed (Sidenote: a provider who gives such a support even on Sundays is really recommendable)

IMPORTANT please remove your bookmarks which are linking to the 69.56.171.55 IP, and use http://forum.midibox.org instead. The path to all midibox.org pages will be different after the DNS change. References from ucapps.de and from forum articles will be updated automatically.

Best Regards, Thorsten.

Uh,

Sorry-- I don't understand.. I'm posting this on forum.midibox.org as I typed or http://69.56.171.55/~midibox/forum/ as the url field says.. How come using an IP address can stress a DNS server? I just thought It would take a load out of it.

Bye, Moebius

We are using the preview URL of our shared host.

The bandwitdh used this way is unmetered!

Regards,

Jeffry

Please ask if you still do not understand.

"the preview URL"? Lemme laugh.. anyone got any *NIX accounts? Homepages? any ~-stuff? That's where forum is located.

If it's unmetered, lemme laugh again ;)

Please ask if you still do not understand.

I DO understand and will be switching on using IP again

Bye, Moebius

Hi, Twin-X!

Please give me the URL where Your hosting company can meter the bandwidth..? Something like "http://69.56.171.55/~midibox/forum/" ?

I think any non-restricted internet service is public. I'm just thinking how funny it is, if Your hosting company can't log bandwidth used by.. uh, midibox forum.

Bye, Moebius

p.s. If you reply to this--> 69.56.171.55 :D

Ow i see,

Well i cannot give you the link to metering since it's in our control panel and that means i would have to give you the password ;)

The thing is the ip is used by more people than me and it is metered. The thing is they do not meter it for folders or websiters since the use of the ip is for administrative use only. So actually they are right.

Cheers,

Jeffry
