Davo Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 I just picked up a Speak and Spell and a Speak and Math. Has anyone interfaced Midibox hardware with these things?Davo Quote
bill Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 Has anyone interfaced Midibox hardware with these things?I dont think so, but i've never heard of it, but it should not be complicated !!Are you going to start with ?If you need help, i'm your men ! ;D Quote
audiocommander Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 I'm not exactly sure what this is, but have you seen the SpeakJet WikiEntry/Thread?Cheers,Michael Quote
Davo Posted August 11, 2006 Author Report Posted August 11, 2006 I'll probably end up building something like that Speakjet thing for my voice-synthesis fooling around. But, hey, I was at a thrift store and the S&S was there for only a few bucks. Quote
audiocommander Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 I searched for this and foundhttp://www.speaknspell.co.uk/ (with flash simulator) andhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speak_%26_Spell_%28toy%29 and from there on to the chipCollection http://smithsonianchips.si.edu/texas/t_074.htmI think I have seen some webpage that midified this thing... now I only have to find it again.. searching... searching... searching... foundit! :)http://highlyliquid.com/kits/midispeak/so this is definitely possible, one just has to find out how the sound generator chips work (TMC0281 Speech Synthesizer and a derivative of the TMS1000 microprocessor) and how to communicate with them.Cheers,ac Quote
dott.benway Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 Hi, http://experimentalistsanonymous.com/diy/Schematics/Circuit%20Bending%20and%20Modifications/Here is a good tutorial about the speak & "hacking" spell!( nothing about midification, but funny!!! ) Quote
analofbrotha Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 on this type subject,I was thinking the same for a casio sk 1 or 5,with lcd,,, ? filter chip?Any help, links would be awsome.Cool thread! Quote
Jaicen Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 I've seen these MIDI'fied using MIDI to trigger converters. Presumably you could rig up a trigger matrix to trigger the buttons remotely. I guess that's how i'd go about doing it anyway. Quote

toneburst Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 The MIDISpeak board is pretty cool. I have several. Highlyliquid also do MIDI-relay boxes to allow sequencer-driven control of circuit-bent toys, synths etc.Alexhttp://www.toneburst.net Quote
HL-SDK Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 No one has done interface with midibox, it is possible but I recommend seeing what highlyliquid has to offer in terms of midi -> SnSYou could use a midibox to send midi to the SnS, and I'm sure you could come up with a super-cool panel layout to control it as well! napierzaza Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 I talked to the maker of midispeak a while ago, check out this page. This is all he needed to figure it out.http://members.tripod.com/werdav/speakell.html Quote
