Sasha Posted May 26, 2007 Author Report Posted May 26, 2007 what about overclocking his laser? ;D ;D ;D do you have some instructions?waterjetWaterjet is great but I didn`t pay for service last time as my friend cut his panel for free so he cut mine also. Just for preparing the machine they charge 60 EUR, so it is not good idea for using it to cut one piece of prototype. These panels are 1mm thick aluminum, and waterjet can cut steel up to 10-20 cm, s it is kinda overpowered. I found company that have powerful laser capable of cutting metal, but I lost their contacts and had no luck to find them again. As I heard, laser is best for precise aluminum cutting.Anyway, I successfully finish panel filing so it is OK now, but not perfect. As I really want to be 100% satisfied with this project I might do it again but not for now. I will try to laser engrave this panel to see how is the result. Never engraved any powder coated material before so I don`t know can it be done. Quote

Sasha Posted May 27, 2007 Author Report Posted May 27, 2007 Here is one picture of filed buttons openings panel, now everything fits. I changed usual wooden background so we can start chatting about rugs now. ;D Quote
SLP Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 wow... i never thought that the aluminium rings around the LEDs would look so nice!I changed usual wooden background so we can start chatting about rugs now. ;D hehe ;DI'm personally not a fan of those oriental rugs. I prefer those "modern art"-like carpets.EDIT: picture of open MB-SID removed. It's still here: http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=9268.msg66093#new Quote
SLP Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 damn! I'm so stupid. I actually wanted to upload the picture of my carpet. ;DEDIT: picture of carpet deleted. Quote
Sasha Posted May 27, 2007 Author Report Posted May 27, 2007 Now, it makes sense. I thought for a moment that you missed the theme. And, when we speaking about carpets, I must say that I hate oriental design myself, but dont like blue details you got on your carpet nither. :)What a disaster of blog.. ;D Quote
SLP Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 I don't like the picture myself. the colors are so cold.In reality it's much more warmer. What a disaster of blog.. ;DOh yeah! ;D Quote
Sasha Posted May 29, 2007 Author Report Posted May 29, 2007 In reality it's much more warmer.Hmmm, blue and purple are cold colors! How could it be warmer in reality? It is actually red and orange? ;D Quote
SLP Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 I think this one is better. btw. i'll delete the pictures in my last posts... you all know what happened yesterday... I already have a bad conscience ::) Quote
DavidBanner Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 I'm pretty sure that the images don't count for the bandwidth - they (at least the way I add) are hosted off-site and your browser makes a request directly to other server.... Quote
stryd_one Posted May 29, 2007 Report Posted May 29, 2007 Lots of bandwidth to go around, don't go deleting images :) Quote
Sasha Posted June 1, 2007 Author Report Posted June 1, 2007 But, images ARE online, and they are hosted on my webspace, so they don`t affect forum bandwidth anyway. ;) Quote
Sasha Posted June 12, 2007 Author Report Posted June 12, 2007 I finally visit my laserman yesterday to cut a grove in mahagony wood I am going to use for side panels.I cut 3 lines, 3-4mm deep and 1mm wide (all together) so front panel and bottom "U" part can sit in, so I can minimize number of visible screws. I am planing to use only 4 screws for holding everything together in place, and maybe 2 very small ones for middle of front-panel to fix it against the acrylic sub-panel.Here is how it looks... Quote
Jaicen Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 Damn you Sasha, you're gonne have one TASY looking MBSID when you're through with this! :P Quote
Sasha Posted June 14, 2007 Author Report Posted June 14, 2007 I hope so. But this finalization takes longer than I planed. Quote
SLP Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 But this finalization takes longer than I planed.I know that :P Quote
Sasha Posted June 15, 2007 Author Report Posted June 15, 2007 Yesterday I almost kill a carpenter!I mark the engraved piece of mahagony where it needs to be cut, and mask the pieces I need with tape, so no mistake can be made (like cutting over the engraved line) but stupid retard cut it 3 full mm away of the line, put the pieces in my hand and just gone. ??? >:( What a mother fucker!!!Whole Endorphin and Sequoia prjects are ruined now, as I managed to find just enough mahagony to make 4 side panels. I sacrificed some options on Endorphin to be able to put all 4 synths in just 70mm high case (70mm is the width of mahagony). Making the sloth in the wood 4mm from edge with laser was also critical.I really don`t know what to do now. I will try to make another sloth in mahagony I have left, but will not left for sides for Sequoia which meant to be pair of Endorphin. That really sucks! :( Quote
