Cansomeone please give me some insight if these buttons are any good for midibox. I am wondering what type of feel they have, are they "Clicky", will they work? ect....

stryd makes a good point, you do get what you pay for, but beware you can end up selling kidneys for some buttons.

check out:

actually I think some of the prices have come right down, I remember paying double what they are asking for some of their buttons 12 months ago (but then my memory is a  bit hazy)...

the only way to get the info you need is to order 1 of each, check 'em out and then you'll see and feel if it is what you are after.

that said, I've ordered a lot of their buttons (in fact 1 or more of every button, switch and led that I liked the look of), so if you link me a specific button I can give you a quick run down on how it is if I got one...

Well I was gonna ask you about several but why waste all that time when I can buy one of each like you said. My main concerns are getting ones that don't make a clicky sound every time you push them and also have the same mounting specs/sizing as smashtv's encoders. I basically want to mount them on the same board as the encoders and leds. I am trying to use a very slim case about the size of Hallucinogen's SEQ but with alittle more room in the back

the "clicky sound" buttons are called Tact Switches (for tactile), which are the ones Halluciongen used

I'll be very surprised if you find any buttons with the same mounting holes as an encoder, but I think you mean the height right?

check the datasheets for the buttons, they'll give you all the info you need

most of the nice led buttons are PCB mount, so you'll need to do a PCB or use veroboard if you wanna go down that path.

good luck getting your case as thin as that, it'll be a challenge. I've gone for a much thicker case design to make life easier

i think i got them from future electronics but i can't remember.  try their list of distributors and compare prices.  i remember having to order some of the caps elsewhere because they didn't have everything i needed.  i'd guess it's probably about $1-2 (usd) for non-illuminated and $2-3 for illuminated, including the caps you buy separately.

within the next couple weeks i should be finishing up my sequencer and i'll show what they look like.  i made up a jpg of what it will sort of look like, if you want to know how big they are in proportion to everything else.  i think these buttons will end up being perfect and are worth the money.
