  1. Hi Roger – welcome. I am also a new MB6581 user and have come from a HardSID 4U background. I loved the HardSID and it features in most our tracks over the last 5 years. However, since day 1 it has never worked properly if you try to access more than 1 SID at a time. Im now a pretty happy MB user. Im only jumping in on your thread as you mention the HardSID  Paul

    TwinSID?

Wow!! What are you doing with all those SIDs?? And you still want more  Paul
  3. Actually, I think I might have it: each oscillator has the WaveForm "Off". I still have a patch that is making noise depite having all the oscillators set to Off so I need to dig a little deeper to fully understand what is happening, but this is likely just to be some modulator that Im not aware of.. ta, Paul London www.punkdisco.co.uk Text SLUT to: 29 7 29 7 Here’s the video: www.youtu.be/Zl0PTZKy7fg
  4. Hi all Having a blast with my MB6582 btw.. Im a long term SID user, coming from another bespoke SID hardware platform. So far, Im very glad I decided to give the MB a go over my beloved existing SID synth (don’t want to name it.. ) Question: I cant work out how to turn oscillators on/off.. I have found the "3Of" param in the Filter menu but, this only turns of osc 3 (obviously). My current SID synth allows you to turn all 3 oscillators on/off – I think it describes this as a "test mode" but effectively, it turns them off.. Is this possible on the MB?? PS: is this the correct place for user questions? Being in the "Construction" forum, I feel like I maybe posting in the wrong place?? Thanks, Paul London www.punkdisco.co.uk Text SLUT to: 29 7 29 7 Here’s the video: www.youtu.be/Zl0PTZKy7fg
  5. Hi Is there a downloadable user guide for the MB6582? I know about the online manual but, my DAW is not allowed on the internet so need something local..? Also, is there a cheat sheet showing all the manual structures and what the abbreviations mean? Basically, a cheat sheet to show the menu structures/abbreviations, exactly as documented in the rather good online manual, but, on a single A4 so it can be printed..? If there is not such cheat sheet, I will be doing one and upload it once complete. Thanks, Paul London www.punkdisco.co.uk Text SLUT to: 29 7 29 7 Here’s the video: www.youtu.be/Zl0PTZKy7fg
  6. Hi In addition to the above, also remember that the 6581 has a very week/poor resonance so don’t be too concerned it your resonance sweep appears to do very little. Good luck.. Paul London www.punkdisco.co.uk Text SLUT to: 29 7 29 7 Here’s the video: www.youtu.be/Zl0PTZKy7fg
  7. Yeah, same as your guys: Windows XP Ableton Live but, no MIDI notes going through the VST. I can control the MB's parameters but not play notes.. (the PLAY option plays a single note) Looking forward to getting this working as looks like a great editor.. 8. Hi all – can someone please post a link on how to remove the indents? I followed the link in the User Guide but unfortunately, it was broken. Btw, its it normal for these encoders to start jumping etc after just a few years? Not totally sure what versions I have but hoping the Mouser replacements last a bit longer.. Many thanks, Paul
  9. Like others have said - great track. Sounds really original.. Good one.. Paul London www.punkdisco.co.uk Here’s the video: www.youtu.be/Zl0PTZKy7fg
  10. Not sure if Im allowed to ask so sorry if not.. Looking for a 6582 in Europe. many thanks, Paul London www.punkdisco.co.uk Text SLUT to: 29 7 29 7 Here’s the video: www.youtu.be/Zl0PTZKy7fg
  11. Yeah, I have done some pretty hardcore testing of this one chip since first posting and it is defo 100% functional. I just thought it was strange to have an incorrect date stamp (4 years too early). thanks for all the replies.. Appreciated.. 12. Hi all I was having a sniff around and came across this link. I was surprised to see my 6581 might be a fake or damaged stock. My SID says on it: 6581R4AR 2282 with the underside saying: "TAIWAN GH262103" This gives my SID a date of 22 week in 1982. The site says this: "obvious fake- the R4AR didn't come out until mid '86!" So, is my SID a fake? It appears to work okay. Sure, the filter is not as powerful as my 8580R5 and, I can not mix the waveforms which is a "feature" of the 6581. Surprisingly I got it from a reputable source.. ta, Paul
  13. Hi nILS Yeah, I saw this video and I think it was this actual vid that made me first think "wow - I need one of these". Super sexy.. ta for the reply.. Paul London www.punkdisco.co.uk Here’s the video: www.youtu.be/Zl0PTZKy7fg
  14. Hi - this is good to know. Maybe if I do ever get around to building one (I now understand you are not allowed to buy/sell them complete without permission) I think I would do a 3 min "how to use" video to demonstrate the interface rather than the sound.. The user manual is also really good and has helped me visualise how it might operate.. thanks again, Paul London www.punkdisco.co.uk Here’s the video: www.youtu.be/Zl0PTZKy7fg
  15. Hi All (first post!) I have been a bit SID fan for years; most of our tracks use a HardSID 4U (6581 + 6582 + 2x8580). The HardSID is fantastic but I have a few issues with it that SUPER annoy me. So, I have been sniffing around the MB-6582 for ages. The only thing that has stopped me from buying one up until now is not knowing how "usable" they are. Im pretty lazy when it comes to synths - I have a truck load of synths but only the ones that are instant get used. I dont like synths that stifle creativity due to slow/cumbersome interfaces. The MB-6582 is very well documented but, a lot of the info is technical. Likewise, all the YouTube videos tend to be just a demo rather than a walkthrough on how to use the MB-6582 which brings me (finally) only my question: Question: what is the MB-6582 like to use? Clearly it is quite menu driven but, is it quick and logical to use? Thanks for any replies. I hope my post is in the correct section. Btw, here is one of our many SID tracks: http://www.punkdisco.co.uk/Music/oral_hygiene.mp3 Paul London www.punkdisco.co.uk Here’s the video: www.youtu.be/Zl0PTZKy7fg
