  1. yes only this encoder is showing these errors. The ghost from the others encoders from its board and the last led never shining. The RGB matrix is what I will try to achieve as next step indeed. if you count the number of pin on the LCD you'll understand that I have 3 differents entries on each to setup the blacklight color. Do you have uploaded somewhere a picture of this "opal" diffuser ?
  2. Hi ! I've replaced the led, change the ICs and nothing... i made some tests and it's linked to the board itself. I think that i have a solder not good somewhere... i need to recheck everything again. To vary the excitement i've worked on the lcd circuit. After some headache to find how to enter again in bootloader mode (noob i know now...) i've now declare my 4x5 lcd pattern. I need to solder the rest of the adapters "8<->16" and prepare the RGB matrix to color the blacklight according the function i use.
  3. Day 3 : First board first issue. Heya everybody ! Everything goes smoothly but i had an issue that 'im not able to solve alone. On one board, the 5th upper led ring is not working properly. I will try to describe here the symptoms: - when the NG start the first led which is alway light on (lower left one) shine much more than other. - when i move up others encoders I can see a ghost of them on this 5th ring. - the last led never light. I've checked all the soldering... try to replace all the IC but nothing seems to work. Any idea ? Thank in advance, Ender
  4. Everything is finally arrived in New Caledonia :) After a first night i declare the project officialy opened :D
  5. Your family should burry your midibox with you. Some kind of midibox in the box \o/ Duh.... ok ok i go out...
  6. wow... this is crasy/awesome/unbelievable... DIYer makes me dream everyday since i came on this forum ! Congratz !!!!
  7. Everything have been ordered today except the frontpanel \o/ According the delay for shipment in New caledonia (1,5 month) and few vacations I should start my first solder by the end of April. I want to thank everyone for your patience with all my "noob" questions and especially John E. Finster who was here from the first day :flowers:. Without people like you, newbies like me would never dare to start this kind of project. Be sure i will have a lot more questions once i will have these 2500 little pieces on my desk :frantics: A friend of me got a 3D printer and is very enthousiast with this project too. We will try to create some nice buttons by waiting the material. I'll keep you in touch. Kind Regards, Ender
  9. I just realize that i've missed something that might be important ^^ What kind of PSU should i use for this ? it looks like too much for an USB right ?
  10. Here ------------------------------------------------------------------->
  11. Il est la : Et ca devrait plus ou moins ressembler à ca :
  12. wow i dont know where to start :w00t: For the matrix i think i will go for it. I will maybe split the main led matrix in 2 smaller one in order to reduce the number of rows and so increase the brightness of the involved LED. Since the shipment for new caledonia is 50EUR (and probably 1,5 month long) i will try to optimize my order and do it one shot. I'm now on something like this: - 1 core LPC17 - 4 Fairilightiii PCBs - 3 DOUTx4 (2 for LED matrix and 1 for LCD screen) - 1 DIO MATRIX - 2 MF_NG If my plan (I should say "our plan" now  ) doesn't works, those modules will be needed anyway so they will not be wasted. About the design of the board itself you are totally right. I also have to admit that some features I want to implement are not actuals needs for most of my projects. The fact is that I want this board the more complete/flexible as possible to handle futur programs or needs without having to solder again. To tell you everything, I also plan (once this board is done... maybe in few years :hairy: ), to create a second board to complete this one in order to drive Ableton live (that's where the Vpots assigment idea come from). As you said, I will now search about "natively supported" controllers to validate my choices in a more pragmatic way :geek: Thank you very much again for your precious support !!!! Ender
  13. I do some calculation yesterday night and arrive at the same conclusions as you  I also started to read the .ngc file and I found that inside: Does that means the first idea is applicable finally ?
Ender
  15. good news thank you  According the price of these 16x2 screen (1euro each) I was already planning to replace the big screen by 2 little 16x2. The link of these LCD is Well... use only one DOUTX4 for all those LED looks too good to be real  This takes me to your next comment : My problem in that case is i'm not sure to know how to count since i'm not sure how many IN/OUT are used by PCBs of Fairlightiii for leds and encoders. I'm gonna do some research about that. thank you for your support Ender
  16. Thank you for this information. And you are right about the wiring difficulty. In fact i'm planning to use a little piece of veroboard to convert the 1x16 to 2x8 pin with some DIL and SIL Pin Header. Then i should be able to connect the LCD "normaly" ^^ Ender
Ender
  18. Are these LCD screen usable for MBNG ? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1602-Character-LCD-Module-Display-Anzeigen-2X16-Zeichen-/300597393955?pt=Bauteile&hash=item45fd003a23 Just waiting a confirm before ordering many of them :)
  19. If I summarizes the number of components for this project I get: For the 64 encoders with led rings I will use 4 modules 8x2 LRE Fairlightiii PCB: http://www.midibox.o...id=fairlightiii For the rest: - 156 leds - 172 buttons - 2 encoders - 16 touch sensitive motor faders which gives a total of 192 digital inputs, 156 digital ouputs, 16 analogic inputs. With only 1 module DOUTx4 I should be able to manage up to 256 leds like this: http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_doutx4_ledrings.pdf With only 1 DIOMATRIX module I should be able to manage up to 256 digital inputs. Which is more than all my buttons, my 2 encoders and the 16 touch control faders. With only 1 module AINSER64 I should be able to manage my 16 motor faders. So the final order summary should be summary: - 1 core LPC17 - 1 DOUTx4 - 1 DIO MATRIX - 1 A1INSER64 - 2 MF_NG Am i right ? I was wondering ... should i use 2 modules DOUTX4 rather than one to get a better brightness for the led ? Do i need some special module to connect all the LCD screen ? Thank you in advance, Ender
  20. Are these LCD ok for this purpose ? http://www.sunrom.com/components/displays-led-lcd/lcd-displays/16x2-character-lcd-display-green-backlight They are pretty cheap and looks nice so far...
  21. awesome !!! I just request a quote for 200 of these : http://www.top-up.com.tw/front/bin/ptdetail.phtml?Part=TSBL6AV-BS&Category=131548 I will update my post here to tell you the price of them. Ender I guess we have to wait then ^^
  22. Wow... christmass come very early this year  You're the one TK !!!! This new improvement opens so many possibilities that now I cannot find something on a board "from the box" that we cannot achieve with MB \o/ Now I can't wait to receive my orders and start working on my box :p Best Regards, Ender (very happy)
  23. This is a really good idea that could be my workaround if the "conditional event" feature is too complicated or not achievable. I prefere the first concept that opens many possibilities but it definately worths spending some time thinking about your idea  Regards, Ender
  24. Great ! This sounds like a terrific feature to be added. I will follow this topic with attention from now :) ;)
  25. Awesome ! Thank you nILS  In that case I believe that I can show you what I am working on. Basicaly it's a Mackie control with 16 channels and some improvements that I need/like. The encoders part will be made with 4 modules of Fairlightiii led rings PCB. I will now do the high level design to understand how many DIN/DOUT I will need to complete them. rest is comming soon  Ender *Edit : The link should work now.
