  1. Necrobump. I've just found this awesome thread. What's the latest on the MBProg? This looks just perfect for my axoloti synth build. The axo can change synths on demand (using Program Changes) which makes it difficult to design a usable panel for it. Would be awesome to have a on demand, changing dynamic control surface for it that matches the underlying synth engine perfectly on changes.

  2. 18% sounds like it's the old Inkscape DPI issue. Basically Inkscape runs SVG at 90dpi while other editors, like Illustrator run at 72dpi. Not sure what Pawaga used to make that file and I also can't find the Ponoko forum posts I read about it. Try this;

    1. Get and open Ponoko's P3 inkscape template.
    2. Open Pawaga's file
    3. Copy and paste the contents over to the P3 template.

    The p3 template has settings in it that should correct the sizing issue.

  3. Hi Folks,

    I'm trying to driving my LXR from my SEQv4 and I'm having weird clock problems. Here's my setup

    • Drum track set to channel 10
    • BPM set to 100 or above.
    • MClk OUT set to On on BPM page.
    • LXR set to anything with "N" in it meaning it receives notes.
    • Voices set to channel 10 and any note (makes it easier to troubleshoot)

    I want to export clock as I have other synths with arpeggiators etc. The LXR specifically doesn't need clock, I just want to play notes on it.

    The problem.

    With MClk OUT set to On the LXR will only play 1 note every 9 16th's. No matter what the voice. If I slow BPM down it'll play something like 1 note every 6 or 7 beats. Basically it's not playing all the notes.

    If I turn MClk OUT to Off to stop exporting clock timing, the LXR behaves and plays every note, no matter how fast the BPM.

    Other tests with MClk enabled;

    • Without the SEQ clock running I can bang away on my keyboard and play the LXR as fast as I can. Soon as the SEQ runs with clock exported, the LXR will only play a note every so often (as above).
    • With clock enabled the SEQ can drive any other synth no problems with the drum track.

    Anyone with an LXR seen this?

    The bamboo is like 20 bucks for the P3 size. All shipped, with their $20 off coupon it was $38 shipped. And yeahI have been scouring the internet for some cool. Knobs. I think for the time being I'll use the ones that came with the Kit and once I find the perfect knobs I'll switch the out.

    Geez, is Australia (using NZ ponoko) my SEQ case costs about 80USD

  5. Since the BLM talks to the SEQ via MIDI I thought it might be possible to code up a BLM using some software I'm familiar with before looking into hardware options. Is the MIDI Map available for it anywhere? I had a look through the SEQ MIOS code base and BLM modules but couldn't find a listing anywhere.

  6. A thought on the Count-In wishlist (which I'd like to 2nd). AStart=On holds the sequencer until the user inputs a note. Setting "Count-In=2 measures" could use the same AStart function. i.e: The seq is held until the Count-In clock reaches zero where Astart runs the sequencer.

    I thought of an easier to implement alternative of just being able to run the Metronome while the SEQ transport isn't running. We could then use Astart to record on the measure we feel like.

  7. Hmm, seems like a usability issue there. I must say I'm struggling with this beast. After moving from a MidiREX where its very flexible and fast to jam things out the SEQ isn't appearing very accessible, even with the great new docs. It's hard to tell what a button does since there isn't a coherent paradigm on how buttons are used. I realise the buttons are all shortcuts to options in the "menu" but some are used in odd ways. Some appear to be shortcuts to shortcuts and then there's combo's like the FollowMode which looks like it's not used since it would involve toggling it off and on all the time. There's even a combo shortcut to reach Bookmarks, which themselves, are a page of shortcuts!

    It's clear there's a lot of different ways to work with the SEQ and the Wilba CS by default comes with buttons that may cover the 80% but at this stage I feel like taking a black pen to every button label and starting again. :)

    I think I'll kick off a workflow page and encourage the more experienced to divulge how they use the SEQ on a day to day basis. I feel this would benefit us n00bs greatly and choose how we want to work.

    Actually, I didn't answer your question. Yes, while recording or playback the displays don't follow the cursor. I have to enable FollowMode for this, which then means I can't scroll fully around the track when playback is stopped.

  8. Hi folks,

    I'm finally getting my hands on a working SEQ. When doing a live recording of more than 16 steps the view after 16 steps doesn't change so I can't see where in my loop the chaselight it at. Is there a way to make the view follow the bars along the loop?

  9. Ok got it. My Alps STEC is front mounted on the PCB and is pretty solid there. I've looked and even if I widened the cutout to let the wheel through I'm not going to gain anything as the flat of the shaft is flush with the top face of the panel. So I'm just going to shorten the datawheel stem. Easiest solution.

    ALPS stec12 have no thread and nut ... not cool for the datawheel

    Mine is front mounted. Are you talking about the wheel rubbing against the aluminium collar on the pot not being good? I suppose I could cushion it with a couple of spacers/washers. Widen the hole so it drops down enough, then have it sit on washers instead of down against the bottom of the encoder shaft.
