Some ideas for the enhanced remote control: I would like to use a Midibox64ev2 to implement additional 32 encoders for velocity and step length and 16 buttons for layers and other stuff. Would it be possible to implement a feature where MBSeqV4 sends its Status to the Midibox 64eV2 ? Otherwise i would have the problem that after switching patterns, the Encoders of the Midibox64eV2 dont know the value of each step. I doubt that modern PC Sequencers handle the same way with endless midi controlers. It would also be nice when the Values of the Displays of the MBSeqV4 correspond to entries of the Midibox64eV2, which means that the displays have to jump to the velocity view after i dial a encoder of the Midibox64eV2 which sends velocity parameters to the MBSeqV4. another wish: increase the steps for gatelength from 23 to 128 or so greets moroe

just another idea i dont know if it would make sense, because there is portamento on each synth and the glide option in seq v3: why not some sort of pitchbend envelope for each step ? greets moroe

hi will it be possible to add extra buttons if i need them ? I will use vseq4 mainly to create synth loops (not for making whole songs) and therefore my focus is on direct access to all layers. if it will be possible i really would like to build a HUGE panel with so much buttons i need. greets moroe

incredible !!! this will be the most professional step sequencer the world has ever seen. there is no need to edit the patches inside the seq v4, a pc is really better for this. could it be possible to step trough the patches on the sd card with plus - minus buttons or a encoder and seq v4 will send them immediately ? my digital camera will need a new 16 gb sd card when seq v4 arrives :) best regards moroe

wow these are really great news !!!!!!!! i really enjoy your big amount of feedback on the forum. please could you give a statement about this: you mentioned a sysex patch send option in the announcement of V4. this would be awesome. hope that you also implement a sysex patch record funktion for synths. i saw that the Midibox UC is able to request the synthesizer's edit buffer, maybe you can use some of his code imagine that you only have to press a "gather all settings from synths" button and all connected hardware is sending their patches to the sequencer for saving as a whole project !!!!!! maybe only as a recording function where you have to enable sysex sending at the synths manually one after another but the sequence data and the synth patch data should be stored together as a whole project file. also needed would be a seperate preset library for synths where you can send, request and store presets seperately for each synth i really would like to have a total recall hardware studio without pc. just some ideas moroe

hello thorsten would it be possible to get more layers if we only use 64 or 32 steps ? is the memory organisation hardcoded or a dynamically ? if its hardcoded maybe you could release 2 versions of seq v4 and users can decide which one they will burn on their pic there would be 2 versions then: one with only 32 or 64 steps and more layers (bigger chords, more controlers, step shift..) and the one with 128 steps and fewer layers. just an idea moroe

hello thorsten thx for reply i saw at the IIC MIDI Module description that the bus load could increase to a level, where buffers overflow and data get lost, if i add more than 4 IIC Midi Modules. so i will search another solution for my needs. damn why isnt second quarter of 2009 now , i cant await the first moment when seqv4 runs on my destop :) the whole ucapps project is sooo genious greets moroe

Hello Thorsten I have all my synths hooked up on a m-audio midisport 8x8 wit 8 inputs and outputs. I have both the midi in and out from the synths connected to the midi interface. This seems to be the only way to use soundquests midiquest editor-librarian and use the patch funktions of the midisport 8x8. I mostly save my synth presets with midiquest and send them from the library. I would like to make a switch box which switches the synths between the midisport8x8 and the seq v4 and every time i have to save sounds with midiquest i have to switch. This is the only thing what i do with a pc. Want to make music without the computer turned on. Greets Moroe

Hello Is it possible to implement a feature which sends a recording start message when the sequencer starts and a recording stop message when the sequencer stops, to a hardware sampler like the emu e6400 or a korg M3 ? I dont know if this is generally possible with midi or sysex. I wanna sample the loop which ist generated via the seqV4 trough a virus c. Only problem is that the sampler has to be stopped after ONE run of the pattern. I dont know if its possible to make a one shot pattern with seqV4 ? This means that the sequencer has to have the option to play the pattern only one times after the press of the start button and has to automaticly stop after the pattern ends. I would also like to have a option to sample each note after another from a synth, like this software does: http://www.samplerobot.de/english/was.htm. For this, seqV4 has to send a rising note on, note number and a note off message, in a adjustable amount of time between the notes. But the problem is how to tell the sampler that he has to put each sample on another key. I am not a hardware sampler specialist so i dont know if this is possible. But you could cut silence out of the big file and then extract each sampled note to another key. Please forgive my bad english, i am German :) Greets Moroe

me too, 64 steps are enough for me. i really need more layers (like 10, for controllers) as i understand is this not possible with 128 steps because of ram shortcomings. and definately keep it as stepsequencer, i hate that mpc, mv8800 concept greets moroe

will the version 4 of midibox seq have more than 3 parameter layers per track ? i would like to have Chord (up to 4 notes), Velocity, Gatelength, step shift and two controllers at the same time. please also add the possibility to expand the seq V4 with more buttons and knobs to avoid menue digging. maybe over a seperate midi controler box like the MIDIBOX64e via sysex commands, if this would be easier for you to implement (fewer digital in modules). i really would have 3 additional 16 knob rows to control the parameter layers :) here another feature of the yamaha rs7000: REC MONITOR..... MIDI data received via the MIDI IN connector is re-transmitted via the MIDI channel and MIDI output assigned to the currently selected track of the sequencer. In this case the currently selected midi channel on the midi keyboard will be remapped to the midi channel of the currently selected midibox seq V4 track. So you dont have to switch the midi channel on the midi keyboard to play a other synth. there are so much other ideas to mangle midi data why not implement a sort of korgs KARMA or things from the LATRONIC NOTRON sequencer. another big hit would be to use a big 16x16 knob/led matrix like the monome with the seq V4 (maybe as a seperate module) damn i am dreaming away:)

i would like to have a step shift feature which moves a step behind or forward the original position STEP SHIFT Shifts the timing of the specified step, forward or backward in clock increments (there are 480 clocks per quarter note) up to a maximum of plus or minus 120 clocks (i.e. a 16th note).

hello i would like to see a midi delay like the yamaha rs7000 has. here is a copy of the manual: DELAY TIME ....[Knob 1] [settings] 0030 ~ 1920 (clocks) Sets the delay time. The delay time is the amount of time between the playback of the original notes and the delay notes, specified in clock increments (one 1/4 note = 480 clocks). 2 DELAY LEVEL ....[Knob 2] [settings] 000 ~ 127 (%) Sets the velocity of the delay sound in percent. 3 REPEAT TIMES....[Knob 3] [settings] 00 ~ 64 Specifies the number of delay repeats. FB VELOCITY (Feedback Velocity) ....[Knob 1] [settings] -127 ~ +127 When MIDI delay is set up to produce multiple repeats, gradual changes in the level of the repeats are produced by increasing or decreasing the velocity values. For example, if the velocity of the original data is 100 and the FB VELOCITY value is set to +10, if the velocity of the first repeat is 60, the second repeat will be 70, the third 80, and so on. FB NOTE (Feedback Note) .....[Knob 2] [settings] -24 ~ +24, RDN When MIDI delay is set up to produce multiple repeats, changes in the pitch of the repeats can be produced in semitone or whole-tone increments. hallo ich interessiere mich sehr für den midibox seq habe schon das manual gelesen aber leider ist mein englisch nicht so gut und nun hätte ich ein paar fragen. kann man einen EINZELNEN step um ein paar ticks nach hinten oder vorne verschieben (aus dem 16tel raster) um so mehr groove zu erzeugen ? das währe sehr wichtig für mich. gibts eine STATISCHE random funktion für notenwert, anschlagsdynamik, notenlänge per track ? diese sollte nur einmal per tastendruck eine zufällige variation des vorhandenen tracks generieren am besten mit einschränkbaren wertebereich und auch getrennt für notenwert anschlagsdynamik und notenlänge ich würde gerne einen track basteln und dann solange auf den random button drücken bis eine variation herauskommt welche mir gefällt und diese dann beibehalten. soweit ich gesehen habe gibts nur eine random funktion welche bei jedem neuen durchlauf des tracks neue variationen erzeugt. gibts einzelne tasten um die encoder schnell auf notenwert, anschlagsdynamik oder notenlänge umzuschalten ? das mit den 4 tracks per pattern hab ich auch nicht so richtig verstanden wenn ich nun den track button 1 drücke , wie wähle ich dann einen der 4 tracks aus ? eigentlich wärs mir lieber wenn ich die tracks mit den 16 step tastern anwählen könnte. gibts eine möglichkeit mit der das angeschlossene midikeyboard (mit fest eingestelltem midi kanal) immer den midi kanal an den synth weitergibt welcher im gerade selektierten track ausgewählt ist ? diese funktion gibts im yamaha rs7000 wie wird ein akkord in einem layer ausgewählt ? hab gesehen das es schon feature requests für de version 4 gibt. da habe ich schon eine menge wünsche :) grüsse moroe

Hallo Thosten Hab mal bischen rumprobiert, aber leider hat das nicht funktioniert. hallo ich würde gerne einen simplen midi sequencer bauen mit nur 16 taster + leds, 16 potis für tonhöhe und einen geschwindigkeitsregler. das ganze teil sollte sehr klein sein und ich brauche auch kein display und keine möglichkeit irgendwelche werte abzuspeichern oder sonstige einstellungen vorzunehmen. der sequencer dient nur zum rumspielen für meinen virus c. ich habe mir schon den midibox seq angesehen aber das wäre viel zu aufwändig für meine zwecke. grüsse moroe
