GDay Levon, Given your experience and the very specific nature of your project, I would recommend writing a custom app in C. You could use the onboard RAM or load from bankstick, whichever suits your needs best. I would guess that the onboard ram would be ample. As for the handheld+footswitch box, I would say you could probably have a single core in the handheld part, and attach the footswitches (just switches) to that... Some others have tried this or talked of it, there were initially some concerns about cable length (noise/interference/resistance) so I'll leave it to someone who's done it to confirm it.

Nope, both bytes supported... I'm daft though, cause SPP is a counter of beats not measures.... Each beat is 6 clocks...16384 (14 bits 0x3FFF) beats * 6 clocks = 98,304 ticks / 24ppqn / 16 steps = 256. You just hit the limit of SPP perhaps?

Sounds like maybe it only supports 8 of the 14 SPP bits... Lemme take a look, maybe I can save TK some time hehehe (NOT likely!)

It could be, but it might be a handshaking (part of the track chaining) problem related to the progression... How long is "after a while"? Is there a pattern to it, or does this happen randomly?

Thx AC :) Problem with mine was that it would push 48 bytes onto the stack every time... I ended up implementing a separate 'stack' for the function to avoid stack overflows, but it's nice to know that they do work :)

Just a word of advice: Never, ever use a VIA chipset for an audio PC. I don't think they've released a single one that was not critically buggy in some way with some pro audio soft- or hardware.

OK so without the bankstick what happens exactly? Tell us everything so we can figure it out best :) I wonder if it says "Loading Setup from BankStick" when there is no bankstick

Hey mate, LONG time no see! Good to see you around again. Where'd ya go? Are you staying?

<gripe> It probably wouldn't do you any good anyway. There aren't really any decent 8x8 devices left :( They're all USB, which is no good especially for 8x8, even if that is ignored, theres only two with Vista or x64 support: the MOTU which is notorious for poor windoze support and I do not recommend after owning them since forever; and the roland um880, which does port-to-port routing/patching but not filtering or specific channel routing, like the motu does. If you want 16x16 like I do, it's motu on mac or nothing. If you don't want vista or more importantly x64 support then there are a few options but really they're all crap. Basically we're screwed. What we need is a scalable networkable 8x8 (16x16, 24x24...) interface that uses either firewire or preferably a proprietry PCIe card. But it seems that in this age of digital audio where we have hit the limits of the current technologies, all the focus has shifted to new audio tech, and serious midi users have been forgotten. It's exacerbated by the lack of market demand - Pro studios don't really care because their customers are unaware of the failures in USB and often use macs anyway, small studios don't care because their needs are not so demanding, and the hardcore users like us get lift drifting.... I'm holding onto my cash waiting for something decent... </gripe>

Oh I thought you wanted to change the electrical connections to 'fool it' into sending a different note. You just need to tell it that that button sends a different note. I think you do that with the INI files or with the GUI Editor by Serge... Yeh it's on the main mb64 page how did ya miss that! heheheh
