  1. Have you seen what the guitar pedal guys do with metal boxes? http://aronnelson.com/gallery/album24
  2. There you have it, fried transformer. Must be really fried to give off 0V! :(
  3. QBAS's velocity sensitive keyboard scan matrix :)
  4. I think it's more of a branch than an update... The synthesis side of the soundgin is more advanced and I think it'd make a great synth, but it's speech is nothing on the speakjet's, which in turn has weaker synthesis... I want one of each heheh It's interesting to see those designers go to a different company, doing something so similar in concept, and yet quite different in implementation... Can't help but wonder what's going on there... It was also very late, so I'll wait until I hear of people receiving them in working order before I grab mine. Call me paranoid but.... ;) Anyway I think the soundgin is a project that could bear a pretty impressive outcome as a synth, but for speech, speakjet retains it's throne. Time to start a new thread maybe... Soundgin - A PIC based synth chip! ... Sounds familiar ;)
  5. Maybe take a look at the gameboy sync thread?
  6. Nothing, as in 0 volts? Do you get 240V before the transformer? what about the 2ndary side of the tranny?
  7. Sweeet as. :D
  8. I just stumbled upon this interesting software for doing PCB or perfboard or stripboard layouts: http://storm-software.co.yu/diy/index.php?project=software It's very basic but I kinda like it! Thought I might let you guys know... Should be handy for custom bits There's also some other goodies on that site, have a click around!
  9. Hosting for these is on the way :) Thanks to those who helped out, I'll leave it up to you to reveal your secret identity ;)
  10. Well you have to be able to switch it like this: In - Out Ch1 - Ch1 Ch1 - Ch2 Ch1 - Ch3 Ch1 - Ch4 Ch1 - Ch5 Ch1 - Ch6 Ch1 - Ch7 Ch1 - Ch8 Ch2 - Ch1 Ch2 - Ch2 etc etc... There are crosspoint switches available to do stuff like this though :)
  11. Sloooowww dowwwwn Chris. Read Wilba's posts again :)
  12. Bah! Make yer own darn patches! :P
  13. A synth by any other design would sound as sweet :D
  14. IIRC my post after that said something about the fact that arrays of pointers don't work in SDCC (DAMN!!!) I think I also suggested again that you try it with dummy variables which are not used elsewhere.
  15. Argh I read that too! Darn what was it?! <scratch scratch>
  16. Hi SounDuke, I must apologise to yourself and QBAS, this must be yet another thing that I lost when my task list in outlook went bye-bye a month or so ago (I hate computers!). I have a copy of the source code I can send to you in the short term and find a longer term solution soon. It's back in my to-do list now :)
  17. Well if the circuitry supporting the 3396's is designed to use pots, then an analog interface could quickly be attached to it (just wire up the pots), or digipots could be substituted for a digital interface, which could then use pots or encoders. I do think it's best to choose one method or the project can become too scattered, but this way doesn't create a branching off of the project, but a split, into the synth circuitry around a 3396, and the CS. I'm going to go read the datasheet again, because I obviously missed the part with the 4051's... I'm all for following the datasheet, I am so clueless at circuitry.
  18. Thanks for the update illy. Well I didn't check quite that often, but I checked a fair bit, and I will admit to announcing "awesome!" rather loudly when the RSS feed suddenly sprang to life :) I think part of it was knowing the forum was back up, and part of it was knowing the weight that came off twin-x's shoulders :)
  19. Wow the documentation of the source is fantastic! It's the sort of doco that you only write if you're being paid to, or made to... by your uni lecturer ;) BTW, the reason I asked about the extra buttons is that I was considering making my MB synths without a CS and using this to control them instead instead, but there are certain things that would be better with a slightly different UI, so I was wondering how it can be customised... But I don't think it's that kind of thing really..? I'll be making one either way... Just gotta save up for PLEDs that big :o
  20. Dude that is awesome! I'd love to see pics of it's screens when it's on! Edit: Is it possible to add more encoders/buttons/screens?
  21. I dunno I'm thinking more of digipots...
  22. Yeh a sidechain IO would sure be nice, that way you can run it through whatever...
  23. Food for thought: 8 ins and 8 outs is 64 switches, not 8....
  24. Yeh I think it might have been restored from the backup from Thursday night, which means Friday daytime is lost forever, floating electrons in the sky :( Oh yeh the smileys are busted too I think. Ihatecomputersface OK I made that one up, but all forums should have that smiley ;) I wonder if I write Wink now if it will become a winky face later? heheheh Hey Ilmenator&co I don't suppose you backed up the GLCD project docs? I'm really keen to check it out, and I read the post saying that it was on the wiki in full, and clicked the link... and that was the exact moment the servers died I think. :( Edit: Twin-X, these are neither demands nor mere suggestions that you fix this stuff, just stuff I've observed. No pressure, mate :)
  25. Ouch. I had a feeling that you'd lost an array controller when I saw the empty gzo host.... Same thing happened to us with a customer's server a few weeks ago... It's really harsh mate, I hope you're not copping too much flak over it.
