  1. Problem is power, but as discussed in another thread about midi guitars, there are ways and means around that :)
  2. Woops I accidentally hit applause too heheh ;D
  3. I think that sounds possible but it's not so clear what you're trying to do... Perhaps if you could share a little more information?
  4. Ok what's the story with giving me negative karma? I've checked my posts over the last few days and I don't see anything I've said that was even remotely offensive or deserving of such a thing, and certainly nobody has spoken to me about any problem they have with me. If you're going to dish out negative karma for no apparent reason then you're not really helping anyone. If you do have a reason, it might make sense to talk to me about it, that way I won't make a repeat performance and keep annoying you.
  5. Well in this case it depends on whether you're talking about a control surface for an application or a real analog audio circuit... I was taking about the latter, because up until your post, nobody mentioned software at all, so the application was a circuit. If you're talking about a control surface for software then the required switch still doesn't have much to do with how ableton responds, as the state of the switch is converted to a MIDI message depending on how the MIDIBox is configured, and that MIDI message controls ableton... So the correct switch is dictated by the MB application, not ableton. Ableton, being software, won't try to use an absolute value for the solos/mutes/etc, because in that scenario, if somehow a MIDI message was dropped, then the function of the virtual switch would be reversed. So instead, it is relative to it's last value (not absolute) and just swaps the value whenever it receives the corresponding MIDI message. This is typical of digital circuitry: Why would you bother with any other type of switch than momentary? You can have a momentary switch swap the value of a variable between 1 and 0, so a momentary can be easily used to emulate the nature of a latching switch. I hope this isn't too hard to understand. It's much easier to explain with some breadboard :)
  6. Have you already started coding? :D http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=midibox_sequencer_vx
  7. Usually not quite so cold but it depends... Best to check with your carrier to find out about the best way to ship sensitive stuff.
  8. Good to hear mate :) Plan at the moment is something like this... We start with the ClockBox app. First thing is a single 8-step pattern with fixed values for everything so basically a C-Major scale or something, with a play, pause and a stop button. After that, introduce features one-by-one, and share the code with everyone as we go. So next up might be note values, then looping/direction, then velocity, then note length, then extra tracks, then more steps per track, etc etc. As each person reaches a point where they need to branch off then they can do just that, no sweat. For example, if we were to go in the same order as above, once I get past the items I have listed, my next step would be multiple clocks, and that's probably where I'll end up solo...
  9. Yeee hah! coming along nicely!
  10. Yeh see I'm that geek in the back of the class throwing spitballs and making fart noises ;)
  11. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  12. Take a hint dude ;)
  13. Nice! My A/D thanks you!! Classic... I was about to post saying "Hey if you really wanna impress me, DIY a SYEMB06 for my RM50", and before I posted I thought, hey, it's been a couple months since I last ran a search for a schematic, I'll search before I post, and I found This post on the Yammy forums Rockin stuff!
  14. It might have been French once, but not any more! [French, from Old French, drum, clapperless bell, probably from Medieval Greek *timbanon, drum, from Greek tumpanon, kettledrum.] Maybe we should say it with a Greek accent? ;)
  15. I stopped bidding on the last one because the price went through the freakin roof.. But it seems my eBay prediction was true... I suspected that the "last one" which was listed before, was not in fact the last one, but that there would be more. People bid like crazy on the last one, it went for like double-triple the price of the others, so I let them bid, and waited until the next one was listed... I'm sure I'll still have to fight it out but hopefully not to the tune of 70 bucks... Wish me luck!
  16. F#ck that sh!t I talk with an Aussie accent! ;) hehehe Edit: Nothing against the French accent, maybe the sexiest accent around ;) Just I wouldn't expect a Frenchman to speak like Crocodile Dundee or Steve Irwin heheheh
  17. What I really want to see is a link to where I can get some ;)

    SIDbox

    Fantastic, coming along nicely :)
  19. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SSM-2200-4-chanel-stereo-sound-mixer-echo-equalizer_W0QQitemZ7411248798QQcategoryZ23785QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem For 50 bucks you could get a pretty useful faceplate and such... I dunno, I just saw this and thought of all the designs for the digital DJ stuff I've seen here...
  20. Great news Rowan! Now just to get it going on the MIDIBox :) Thanks for the pinout :) There's one more, I'm bidding on that now...
  21. FWIW I Agree with both of those points
  22. Thanks mate :) That's a good read. I'll add some stuff about the digipots soon.
  23. I was thinking of what illogik said with five buttons, or otherwise you could just quantize the values on a fader.
  24. Saw these and thought of you guys... Especially the virtual mixer crowd: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Aglient-HLMP-2685-RED-LED-Light-Bar-Lot-of-60-NEW_W0QQitemZ7614389792QQcategoryZ105796QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Same seller has them in green too... Basically that's 8 LEDs in a nice neat container with a common pin. Cheers!
  25. LOL Yeh Moebius may make a very good point... I have absolutely no clue as I am doing my very best to rid myself of the PC for anything other than multitrack recording and sysex librarian duties. So tell us, does your software support control methods other than CC's?
