    That's not related to SID, it's the sequencer.

    Ooops... yes, I mixed it up  :-X ... but I'm also not into the SEQ  ;D

    The drawing was made with Visio. I use this software at work and it's a piece of art. I can understand why Microsoft has bought it and will include it in Office Pro 2005.

    Very nice for simple engineering, flowchart, diagramm, etc... But that's not a freeware.

    I have VISIO from at work as well  ;). But where did you get those buttons from, I don't have those in my standart archive...or are those selfmade templates? Do you have a good link to download those or is it possible, that you mail them to me (if they work with VISIO2000... I think it should)?

    can i have a whole Core dedicated to driving the LCD?

    You could go from your main core with the buttons and the faders etc. out of the MIDI Through to your second core with the LCD. The MIDI Out of the core with the LCD doesn't have to be connected. - I think this should work  ???

    2.) As far as I know, there are max. 128 Digital INs and 128 OUTs per core which MIOS can handle. But the problem will be, when you specify your controller as an LC- or Mackie-Clone in your host, the host software won't let you configure any additional functions because the functions are already specified in the protocol (please anybody correct me, if I got this wrong). I'm working with Sequoia V8 which let's me connect a maximum of 4 hardware controllers. So what I could do, is: Connect 3 LCs (1 master and 2 extensions) to have a 24 fader setup. For the 4th controller I can connect a MidiBox128 (for example) and adjust additional functions in "generic mode"

    4.) Sorry... my experience as a sound engineer tells me: Don't do it  ;)... but I don't have enough electronic background to give you any advice about it would work or not  :-X

    Hey Taylor

    1.) The number of 8-Fader modules is defined by your host software. I don't know of a software handling more than 4 units (32 faders).

    2.) The functions you can lay on buttons is defined by the LC-protocol of the host software

    3.) somebody else has to answer this. I think, you can use any display you can drive by MIOS, as long as you have a driver or you write one

    4.) I think touch sensitive buttons are not a step ahead. I love to have a "click" for activating a function by a button. While mixing, you often put a finger on a button long before you need it and as soon as the time for activation comes, you finally press the button. With touch sensitive buttons you propably often activate a function without wanting it.

    5.) There is no audio (digital nor analog) going through your LC. If you want an analog meter, you have to connect it to an analog out of your DA coverter. The LEDs in the dBFS meters of the LC are activated by MIDI messages from your host software.

    After I saw a nice live performance from Weltklang music yesterday (see http://www.weltklang-music.de/html/body_langenacht2004.html and http://www.weltklang-music.de/html/body_langenacht.html), who are using the Korg Kaosspad to trigger and modulate sounds, I defenitely also want to experiment with touchpads. Only question: where to buy the pads...

    Could you try to find some manufacturers or distributors who offer such pads in low quantities?

    Happy Skiing... und bring die Beine an einem Stück zurück!

    Bei 100 Stck wären das Display ca. 7€/Stck

    ... ist 5.43€/Stk.

    Schweden hat eine MwSt von 25% und die Schweiz gehört leider zur EU 

    ... gehört sie eben nicht  ;), ... somit kämen nur 7.6% MwSt der Schweiz dazu.

    + Versand, welcher bei 100 Stk. nicht sehr ins Gewicht fallen wird.

    Was meint ihr? Der Vorteil wäre, dass man relativ günstig ein Stück zum Testen bestellen könnte und wir dann sicher wären, dass das Ding auch im Verbund mit MidiBox funktionieren wird. Ich nimm an, dass auch der Geldtransfer problemos ablaufen würde (immer noch Kopfschüttel, dass die HSBC dies zwei mal nicht hingekriegt hat) >:(

    Die Sammelbestellung würde ich organisieren.

    . . .das heisst die teile sind immer schwerer zu bekommen, gibts denn nicht eine alternative die noch produziert wird?

    ... die Displays sind so billig, weil sie weltweit in tausenden von Handies eingebaut wurden. Die Entwicklungskosten waren also lange gedeckt und es zählten nur noch die effektiven Produktionskosten.

    Neue Handies haben fast alle color-displays. - Ob die von MIOS angesteuert werden können?

    Dass die Displays später nicht mehr erhältlich sein werden, finde ich kein Problem, da es sich bei unseren Kisten nicht um Serienanfertigungen handelt. Für diese paar $ kaufst Du einfach ein paar Ersatz-Displays mit und Dein Projekt ist gesichert  ;). Der Treiber besteht auch schon... muss also auch nicht bedacht werden, ob es sich lohnt für ein "sterbendes" Display den Aufwand zu betreiben.

    Was meinst Du?

  25. Passendes Netzteil für MidiBoxLC

    Ich glaube die verschiedenen Forums-Beiträge betreffend Problemen mit Schalt-Netzteilen haben die allgemeine Verunsicherung in Sache PSU zu MidiBox LC ausgelöst (... wie es auch mich stark verunsichert hat, sonst hätte ich schon längst entschieden ein PC-Netzteil in's Silent-Rack einzubauen). Wenn man die Preise für fertige Transistor regulierte Fertig-Netzteile anschaut, ist verständlich, dass ein mancher solch ein PSU selber bauen möchte :)
