  1. actually i bought some of theese for the most complicated connections. but they are everything but not "cheap" if you count all the connections you need and buy those things it costs you quite a fortune. what i now did ist: getting some of these things http://www.conrad.de/goto.php?artikel=739510 taking a flat-cable strip and seperate every single wire. then i put a piece of shrinking hose over them. solder the wires to the connecter. shrink the hose and put some isolating tape around the whole thing.
  2. that's a good point. i guess i'll do that. i also tried 3 blanks between each track so that i use the whole display for the channels. but it looks kinda stupid when the longer words are splitt apart like that.
  3. the conrad wheel sucks as you dont have a frame for it. if you put pressure on the wheel you will bend it so that it touches your frontpanel I bought this whole unit and it is good for heavy use: http://www3.alps.co.jp/WebObjects/catalog.woa/PDF/E/Switch/Encoder/SRGP/SRGP.PDF
  4. Hi! It's me with my damn displays giving me a hard time again. I am using two 2x40 displays for my MBLc and i would like to have display page 2 as my default page. When I look at the character-position definition LC_HLP_MsgCursorPos JUMPTABLE_2BYTES 55 ;; (55 table entries) retlw 0x00 + 7 retlw 0x00 + 8 retlw 0x00 + 9 retlw 0x00 + 10 retlw 0x00 + 11 retlw 0x00 + 12 retlw 0x00 + 13 retlw 0x00 + 16 retlw 0x00 + 17 retlw 0x00 + 18 retlw 0x00 + 19 retlw 0x00 + 20 retlw 0x00 + 21 retlw 0x00 + 22 retlw 0x00 + 25 retlw 0x00 + 26 retlw 0x00 + 27 retlw 0x00 + 28 retlw 0x00 + 29 retlw 0x00 + 30 retlw 0x00 + 31 retlw 0x00 + 34 retlw 0x00 + 35 retlw 0x00 + 36 retlw 0x00 + 37 retlw 0x00 + 38 retlw 0x00 + 39 retlw 0x80 + 0 retlw 0x80 + 1 retlw 0x80 + 2 retlw 0x80 + 3 retlw 0x80 + 4 retlw 0x80 + 5 retlw 0x80 + 6 retlw 0x80 + 9 retlw 0x80 + 10 retlw 0x80 + 11 retlw 0x80 + 12 retlw 0x80 + 13 retlw 0x80 + 14 retlw 0x80 + 15 retlw 0x80 + 18 retlw 0x80 + 19 retlw 0x80 + 20 retlw 0x80 + 21 retlw 0x80 + 22 retlw 0x80 + 23 retlw 0x80 + 24 retlw 0x80 + 27 retlw 0x80 + 28 retlw 0x80 + 29 retlw 0x80 + 30 retlw 0x80 + 31 retlw 0x80 + 32 retlw 0x80 + 33 there are some questions coming to my mind: 1) Why are the characters on display1 shifted to the right, so that the 4th message isn't completely displayed (just 6 chars out of 7) 2) Why does that cause the second display to be shifted one to the right, too? although it starts at position 0 (retlw 0x80 + 0) I want to modify the displaypage 2 so that the messages are symetrical with 6 blanks on the left and on the right. I tried it like this: [...] retlw 0x00 + 29 retlw 0x00 + 30 retlw 0x00 + 33 retlw 0x00 + 34 retlw 0x00 + 35 retlw 0x00 + 36 retlw 0x00 + 37 retlw 0x00 + 38 retlw 0x00 + 39 retlw 0x80 + 0 retlw 0x80 + 1 retlw 0x80 + 2 retlw 0x80 + 3 retlw 0x80 + 4 retlw 0x80 + 5 retlw 0x80 + 6 [...] It works like that, so far so good. Now i want to add the rec/solo/mute status and the select status in the left 6 blanks: ;; print rec/solo/mute status at 0/0 SET_CLCD_RSM_MSG 1, 0, 0 ;; print select status at 0/1 SET_CLCD_SEL_MSG 1, 0, 1 Now the problem appears, that as soon as the rec status changes, this message seems to overwrite the first character of the first channel message. Is it also 7 chars in length allthough there is just one being used? If it is not possible to do something against this, i will remove the status, as it is also displayed with the leds.
  5. the truth lies somewhere in the middle. there studies from economists arguing both sides... i did a lot of research on that topic for an essay at university. but what you say is a point for stuff like wave plugins with iLock or similar. As waht i heard KORE uses something proprietary over USB. I dunno if it is something from korg
  6. how difficult is it to implement something like KORE? it is a really good idea of NI to sell something with hardware to get rid of the piracy-problem. but isn't this thing "just" a vsti-wrapper like energy-XT mapping the vsti-automation to midi? or to it's own protocol?
  7. i'm on travell now. will check it wenn I'm home (shipping etc.). paypal would be best. international money order is quite expensive
  8. Hallo! Interesse?
  9. Yes, most cnc machines can somehow read autocad format. If not it should not be difficult to convert dxf or dwg
  10. Hi! I also had a look at KORE and I find it looks really promising. Mapping parameters of vsti's in most sequencers (apart from ableton live) are a pain, not to mention problems with parameter feedback and jumps. I don't see the point with presets. Presets also include the sounds you created by yourself. KORE looks like a nice alternative to Mackie's C4
  11. Do I see it correct, that you cutted the vectorboards for the bargraphs into stripes with 2x12 holes? Any reason why you didn't put like four of the bars on one board? You didn't put anything between the leds to prevent diffusion, right?
  12. well bought some of these rectangular leds today after work. they are not very well manufactured and it looks crappy if i glue them together. I am thinking about just using a prebuild bargraph (green+yellow+red) which only has 10 elements. would it be difficult to change the software for this purpose?
  13. If I glue together some rectangular leds to make a cheap bargraph, do you think it is necessary to seperate the leds with something non transparent?
  14. Hi there! I'm evaluating if I should drop the led-bargraphs from my project or not. First I have been looking for ready made modules, but there are only 12digits all green and 10digits with green yellow and red. both not the best solution. Then I thought about building them myself glueing 12 rectangular leds together with sort of opaque layer between them to avoid diffusion. Now I'm not shure if they're usefull at all or if they just add some mor gizmos to the disco inferno. BTW: I'm using Sonar as my DAW Your oppinion?
  15. thanks for all the help. the dimensions of the elements have been checked several times. printed them on paper and cut them out... For the other aspect: It saves me a lot of money if I order all parts lasercut NOW for almost free, If I hesitate I will have to pay for schaeffer or similar. that's the reason why I said it's urgent and I don't have the time to test. If the panel gets messed up it's not for the money but for a very nice opportunity missed.
  16. I allready expected that there is not the one right way :) My problem is, that the box isn't assembled yet and I have no buttons connected yet to test the functionallities. For that reason I don't know yet what "my needs" are. I connect the box to ableton and sonar, throw in some tracks and watch what happens on the display. I don't know what additional funktions and informations have to be displayed. My first thought was to have it all spread evenly, like in the layout I posted in the other thread but then I was told that there are additional informations which have to be taken into account. I just fear that I build the case, start working and then find out about functions I didn't know. My intention here was to ask those who build a box with these displays about their experience. When I look at the pictures in the gallery there seems to be sort of "common sense" with 5 or 6 digits "hanging over" on each side.
  17. Hi guys! I havent been working on the midibox for quite a long time now Some time ago I posted the design of my frontpanel: http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=5697.0 At that time I had problems figuring out, how to set the width of the channel strips. I am still confused about that and now I have the situtation that I have to send the design to the guy with the lasercutter within the next 3 days. Can anyone tell me how many digits I have to leave at the left and at the right of the displays? like... <space?>|Chan1 |Chan2 |Chan3 |Chan4 |xxxbetweenxxx|Chan5 |Chan6 |Chan7 |Chan8 |<space?> I don't need the beat/time because I have led-displays. I tried display-pages 0-3 as startpages...page 3 has good spacings but it's still sort of messed up like... XXXXXXX|Chan1 |Chan2 |Chan3 |Chan4 xxxbetweenxxx |Chan5 |Chan6 |Chan7 |Chan8 XXX that means it's not symetrical.. 7 "blanks" on the left and 3 on the right. channel 4 also laps over to second display. I'm sure you understand that I don't want to do mistakes when ordering the panel. Please help me :) cheers, rambinator
  18. hmmm. maybe for another project, but on the midibox lc there are no spare dins for such gimmicks.
  19. Thanks, I thought I was the first one to find this thing :) So it seems that only the jog-part is usefull for mblc
  20. I have this jog/shuttle-wheel and I want to build it into my midibox lc. I do not understand the meaning of the different pins in the datasheet. http://www3.alps.co.jp/WebObjects/catalog.woa/PDF/E/Switch/Encoder/SRGP/SRGP.PDF can anybody help me with this? cheers, rambinator
  21. Seems like the yamaha cbx driver makes some problems. I can install it under 64 but it doesn't show up in sonar 64
  22. Hi there! I am going to switch to x64 in a few day. Does anyone know if I need other drivers than those for the audio-interface for 64bit? I am using my midiboxLC with the serial cable. I doubt there will be new drivers for that anywhere. Will it work or is there something else I should consider? cheers, rambinator
  25. Well, there are more functions supported by the logic protocol than you have buttons/inputs on your midibox. If you want these funcions anyway you have different layers, which means that you assign more than one function to a single button. Most suitable you put the functions which are less important in your personal workflow to the second layer. There might also be some Midibox-specific functions which I would also put to another layer. The "clou" now is that you choose a button on your box and assign the MBLC_HOLD_LAYER function to this input. You can now switch through the different layers. Alternatively you can have a configuration which lets you access second-layer functions while holding this button (similar to an "alt" function). If I am wrong with something, please correct me! cheers, rambinator
